On this day in 1998, Coldplay made their live debut as Starfish at The Laurel Tree in Camden!
19 years of Coldplay
Coldplay’s first ever band rehearsal in Jonny and Chris’ flat happened 19 years ago today - January 10, 1998
"Yet another rite of passage for 90s indie bands was the Radio 1 session. Steve Lamacq was well known for his ever-presence at sweaty small venues all over London. Steve first saw Coldplay at The Barfly in Camden. From that one show, he invited them to play a session on his radio show. (Making them the first unsigned band to ever play a Lamacq Live session.) His championing of the band continued as does their friendship to this day." (x)

Coldplay are very big list writers. This may well be the first ever Coldplay list, and it was definitely followed by many more. There have probably been as many lists as songs written, shows performed, or plectrums discarded. As well as notebooks full of the things, nowadays there are whiteboards in the studio to keep focussed plans and lists.
The photo of Chris and Jonny may or may not record the actual moment when it dawned on Mr. Buckland that being the guitarist in Coldplay meant a lifetime at inescapably close quarters with Chris Martin…
