So far, the BBQ was going well, even if Ryder was doing everything he could to avoid his father at this point. Just the sight of him made his stomach turn, all he could think about was his cheating on his mother, and if his dad said something wrong to him today...well, he just might snap. Right now, he just wanted to keep a level head for the day, enjoy the pride parade and make sure Hunter was doing alright. So, that’s what he was doing, making his rounds and hoping small talk would keep him busy enough to keep his mind off of these never-ending thoughts. It was pretty easy, except for the topic of his career, it was still up in the air. He’d been in talks with his coach, basically pleading to let him back on the team, explaining that he had this whole scandal under control because up until the other night, he hadn’t gotten any anonymous messages.
That was why, when he saw Marley in the distance, watching the karaoke with her undivided attention....well, he couldn’t help but think that this was a very good way to busy his mind. Walking over with a beer in his hand, he leaned towards her, nudging her lightly with his elbow, “Twenty bucks the next song’s gonna be a Whitney Houston one." He joked with a warm smile, motioning with his other hand towards the stage.
