I just now got my hands on The World of Critical Role. I checked it out from my library. I'm barely through the first few pages and the author describes Matt several times as "the world"

"everyone they at the table is a person in another world, except for Matt. Matt /is/ the other world. He is everyone they meet and every place they go."

I, as a DM myself, have been experiencing some burn out. I think this just cured it
