I love in episode 97, Jester and Taliesin (not Caduceus, Taliesin) getting excited buying and designing outfits for everybody. Precious roleplaying

*spoilers for CR C2E97*
I love, love, love when characters do nice things for each other, and everyone trusting Jester to buy them fancy party clothes, and then she and Caduceus teaming up to knock it out of the park is just...so good.
Jester is a trickster but she loves her friends a lot, and I think that part of being an effective trickster is reading people well enough to know what would bother them - how to make them look a fool, rob them of their dignity - which is a skill you can invert when it comes time to, when all your amazing, powerful, beloved friends need to be armored against their own insecurities.
Caleb is dressed as an archmage of power and standing; Fjord a man of authority who commands respect. Beau's outfit is slick, untouchable, way cooler than anyone else's. Veth's dress with its buttons, extraneous and shiny, celebrates her transformation and honours both Veth and Nott. Yasha, who loves beautiful things, is given a dress that reveals her own beauty without making her look like someone she isn't.
As clothes for a fancy party these outfits say "look at us, know we are the equal to any of you" but as gifts to each of the Nein they also say "look who you are, we see you, we see your potential and your greatness and we love you", and that just gets me right where I live.
Also, this was a nice and fun thing for Jester and Caduceus to do for their friends, but it was also a nice and fun thing for Laura and Taliesin to do for their friends!
Some more parcel doodles that have probably been delivered by now, f. Frumpkin spying on Ludinus & Lord Thain, Essekitty enrichment, Jesterkitty playtime, and Pâté being a charmer.
❤😭
so you’re trying to tell me that Essek has only known the Mighty Nein for a little over 3 months, and in that time, theyve bonded and befriended each other enough for Essek to tell them that his loyalty doesn’t lie with the dynasty nor the empire - but that his loyalty lies with the Mighty Nein????? CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS PLEASE???
Maybe you and I are both damned, but we can choose to do something and leave it better than it was before.
- Caleb Widogast (Liam O’Brien)
Me: whelp, time to watch the live show of Critical Role! Can't wait to see what fun hijinks the Mighty Nein get into tonight!
Me, one hour into the episode:
Seriously though, one of the best episodes ever.
"Welcome to the Mighty Nein."
So... I just realized that it had to have been Essek then who loosened the captured scourager’s chains and gave her a weapon back in ep 77, right? Cause... shit.
