there’s nothing quite as powerful as “hangover food” when you don’t actually have a hangover. why yes thank you I will cover my daily calorie intake at breakfast. I’ll also have a beer with it I think. It’s to uhhhh cure my hangover you see
the two most powerful human instincts are wanting to fuck and wanting to console small sad child-shaped things and yet nobody has children, which really proves the enlightenment right
Zurich is a sartorially interesting place. Of course it is and always has been a part of greater Germany, so most people dress terribly. However, it is also increasingly a part of greater Italy, if only due to the fact that over the past decades the demographic weight of Italian and para-Italian ethnic groups has crept up. And so people wear clothes in questionable cuts in the German manner, but often lack the dour chromatic conservatism that tends to go with it there. Pastel colors are acceptable business wear almost regardless of register. There's a lot of brown. The old Italian gentlemen canonize the chinos-knitwear-and-sports-jacket look.
I work in a part of town where there are quite a few corporate offices and it's been striking how much the style of the average wearer of suits to work appears to have converged on sometimes quite brightly-colored plaids. The obstinate wearers of navy blue are now to be found in the hoodie department. And then there's me. Due to my agonies.
Every time I try to go to bed early so I can wake up at respectable hours one of two things happens:
I suffer a mysterious bout of insomnia
I fall asleep as desired but proceed to sleep through my alarm and wake up with my watch cheerfully telling me I slept for 10 hours
No winning in this bitch smh
I kind of wish my job was funded by taxpayer money so I could be less mad about the pan-western feudal oriental despotism. What’s the point of Are Democracy when in the lowest-tax jurisdiction with a real economy the state takes 25% of what it costs to employ you and in most jurisdictions it’s close to 50%
If you mix equal parts minced garlic, dark rice vinegar, light soy sauce and chili crisp you obtain the most addictive substance known to man
the bank i use lets you create arbitrary virtual subaccounts in its app and it's psychologically very useful because you can model all sorts of budgetary decisions as, essentially, loans on yourself. i have a bunch of spending i am going to be doing over the next few months but i want to prevent going over my yearly budget i've set for myself so i'll just draw on the one subaccount until it's negative and then i'm going to end up not spending from it until it's back in the black via the monthly share of my income it receives.
