My darlings. Étoile, Faustine, and Silvain. Ecuadorian hermit crabs. I want you all to see them, but my camera broke. So I drew them instead!

Étoile's eyes are more brown, and generally lighter colored than the others. Faustine is darker colored, larger than the other two, with greener eyes. She's also got shorter antennae than the others. Silvain is the smallest of the three, and tends to be a little more shy.

They did not like when I took their water out of the tank, but they do not understand that I give it back within 5 minutes. They will be very upset when they realize I need to replace their salt water this evening. Otherwise, well.

I've been done packing for some time. It's mostly been taking care of my little darling crabs.

I've heard that each time a hermit crab grow and remodeling, they will need a bigger shell

How do you prepare the shell for the crab? Collect from the beach?

Oui. When they molt, they get a little larger, and eventually need a new shell. It is preferred to keep some in the enclosure with them, of varying sizes. Most are specially shipped to me, only a few come from my trips to beaches.

I love my hermit crabs dearly. They are Ecuadorian hermit crabs. Silvain just picked a new shell! It's an etched one, it looks like a slithering snake traveling down the shell. Painted shells aren't good for them, but I still like when they can have fun ones, so etched shells are the way to go. I posted about them a little while ago.

They are well. Faustine is getting ready to molt, I think. I have never seen her burrow before. This is not uncommon, I have just never witnessed Faustine do such.
