so regardless of the reviews it’s been getting I’m still seeing venom
why? well, I’m aware it isn’t too good, and the main sticking point for me is why anyone ever thought venom was meant for a pg-13 rating. but my personal reason is that between spiderman 3 (bearing in mind that the director didn’t like venom and was only contractually obligated to put him in the film) and now, it took eleven years to get big ‘ol edgy globby back on the big screen. “save your money, it’s not worth the admission price”? maybe on any other case, but in venom’s case, it’s a long overdue return to the screen.
it’s not perfect, sure--and it’s not all that good to most, but if it reignites interest in the character to a wider audience, i’m all for it. so whatever the next outing is for him on film, animated or live-action (leaning towards the former; please whoever the powers may be i will throw money at an animated!venom on the big screen, but i digress), this movie’s a (very shaky) start.
tl;dr, it took eleven years to get venom a role in a movie; it ain’t a perfect comeback but fuck it it’s a comeback
