Crack Analysis at Vanitas’s Favourite Food: Oysters

I always thought is was a bit strange that Vanitas’s fav were oysters as I can’t imagine a kid stuck underground for so long pick something like this to eat. It could have been just some funny character detail Mochijun wanted everyone in story and audience to enjoy some eccentricity of Vanitas or that maybe he does have some expensive taste idk. Then I remember a story my friend shared with me when he went to a work party.

There was one really talkative guy at his table that seemed to be interested in the lady beside him who was just trying to enjoy her soup. The appetizers came in segments, and I think one of the last ones were raw oysters. Talkative guy grabbed the closest oyster, swallowed it whole and started at the lady while saying ‘did you know oysters are an aphrodisiac?’ and the rest of the table was pretty horrified after that.

Anyways... 

... if oysters are Vanitas’s favourite food is this why he behaves so promiscuously around Noe and Jeanne? (Or just chooses to be a nuisance in general?)

i think it's a spiderman situation bc we didn't see him become half starfish in 2x04 and 4x06 🤣

i tend to agree with you that it’s more likely a spider-man situation

however,

2x04 and 4x06 didn’t involve liquids that are PURE water. mostly made up of water? sure. but not pure water.

and think about it: we have only ever seen rio drink just plain water once - from a bottle in the hotel room in 3x01. and he barely drank and it just touched the inside of his mouth and a tiny bit of his lips. he was drinking very gingerly

why do you think he’s always drinking alcohol when he’s in public settings? because in the event of a spill, he won’t turn

and if we’re following the rules of the television program “h2o: just add water” the real threat to spur the shapeshifting is external water sources not water entering the body.

there’s a reason he didn’t wash his hands in 4x06 (other than sniffing purposes) you can’t hug your grandmother goodbye if you’re sprawled out on her bathroom floor in starfish form 🤷🏻‍♀️

all i’m saying is that we can’t rule out a mermaid-style starfish situation
