Under the cut is a guide on how to make crackships! This is just how I make them, and I’m sure there are easier ways, but this is just how I make them! I tried to make this tutorial as easy as possible, but if you have any questions, don’t be afraid to ask them! I’m doing this tutorial on Photoshop CS6, however I’m sure it’ll translate to any version of Photoshop, so long as you have timeline!
This is my finished product!
Okay, so, first thing you need to do is find the gifs of your fcs. Today, I’m going to be making a crackship of Rami Malek and Shay Mitchell! To find these gifs, do a tumblr search for ‘Rami Malek Gif Hunt’ or ‘Shay Mitchell Gif Hunt’ and click one of the hunts! I picked these two gifs.

Once you’ve done this, you need to save them and upload them into Photoshop, it’ll look like this!
After you’ve uploaded them into photoshop, you need to make them the same size. This is a must. If they’re not the same size, they won’t work properly! I usually make mine 245x150, but you can do which ever size works for you.
Your settings should look like this, depending on what size you’re making your gifs!
Now, once you’ve cropped the gifs, you need to figure out which gif you would like to put on the other. It doesn’t really make a difference, but I like to think it does! For me, I usually put the second gif on the first gif, in this case, I’m going to put Rami’s gif on top of Shay’s gif!
To do this, you’re going to want to select all of Rami’s frames and layers, which you can do by clicking the first frame, holding shift and then clicking the last frame, and doing the exact same, holding shift and clicking the last layer for the layers!
Like that! And then, you’ll want to copy all of these gifs by clicking this button in the corner
Once you’ve clicked this, this will show up
And you’re going to want to click ‘copy frames’, which will copy all that you’ve highlighted. After this, you’ve got to click back onto your first gif (Shay’s gif) and paste the gifs on. You’ve got to click the final frame of your first gif,
Click the same button,
But this time, you’re going to want to click ‘Paste Frames’! and this will show up,
And you’re going to paste after selection, and click okay!
and it’ll look like that! Now, as you can see, the first frame is on 0.03 seconds, but we want all of the frames to be the exact same time, so you’re going to click the arrow next to the three, click other, and change the three to a seven!
Now, I’ve noticed that Rami’s gif runs for a longer time than Shay’s gif does, so I’ve selected a few frames, and deleted a fair few of them. You’re more than welcome to leave it like this, but I’m not done!
I like to add a black and white filter over, to make the colours match. So, I’m going to open my PSD, and duplicate the group over to my gif!
But, Shay’s gif seems a little bit too white for me. So I’m going to adjust some (a lot) of the layers of the frames, until I get this!
And I’m done! Congrats on making your Crackship! and good luck!!
