Okay!
Needle and Pin belong to @catler00
Disclaimer: this would be when Needle has fallen in love with Lissa, and she also has feelings for him. Alright, read away!
You blink, eye lights flickering over the snowy landscape around you, your breath billowing in front of you, colourless like the rest of this place. Cascades of grey, and white were all around you, filling your senses with a sense of dreariness you've never experienced. This place feeling so familiar, yet so foreign has you uneasy like a million sets of eyes were upon you. The last thing you remember was falling asleep, and now you're in this place, standing in the snow.
Where are you?
Taking a step, you hear the crunch of the snow underneath your feet, alerting you to the fact that this place isn't void of sound. Just colour it seems. Blinking again, you continue onwards, thankful that you can't feel the cold due to your Inverto status. Glancing around, all you see are what appears to be trees, and the farther you go the more trees you see. It's a never ending forest of grey and unease. All you can feel in your soul is an anxiety you can't get rid of, and wish desperately that one of your housemates were here.
Suddenly, it becomes very apparent that you are very much not alone. It's as if someone is watching you, and following along, making you incredibly nervous. It has you picking up your pace to get away, however whoever is following you easily keeps up, their presence feeling more menacing as time goes on. Breathing heavily, you finally find yourself at a small bridge, and with a heaving chest, shout, incredibly tired of this feeling.
"Whoever's there, show yourself!"
You pant, your breath billowing in little wisps as your eyes scan for any sign of movement, that foreboding sensation fading away. Did they leave?"
"If you insist." A voice whispers near your ear, making you shriek, and whirl around.
Hand up to clutch at your chest in your fear, you come face to face with another skeleton. A skeleton who actually looks a lot like Sans. You can see this even though he's got the hood up from his grey pullover hoodie. He's got that same round skull, but one of his sockets is sewn shut as was a portion of his mouth. That didn't stop him from giving you a relaxed, laid back smile though. Something doesn't seem right. Every movement of his body, every blink feels calculated. You don't like it.
"Who are you?" Moving your hand back to your side, you ask this carefully. He watches the movement, blinking and removing one of his hands from his hoodie pocket.
"Who am I? I'm just a simple skeleton like yourself, Miss. Who are you?"
His tone doesn't seem hostile, and none of his mannerisms give that off either. Honestly, he almost reminds you a little of Needle in a way. So very calculating in everything he does, but at the same time, he seems so different. Stars, you wish your friend was here right now, you'd feel so much safer.
"I meant your name. What's your name?" You reiterate since it seems he wants to play a weird game with you.
"Ah, but wouldn't it be more fun for you to tell me your name first, beautiful?"
Not expecting the compliment, you flush as your hands clench in surprise. His expression hasn't changed once since he startled you, but he's oozing this charm that for some reason has you answering despite your reservations.
"It's Lissa."
"What a pretty name." He purrs, his hand reaching up to push his hood off his skull, showing off his very Sans-like face even more, "You may call me Karma, Lissa."
"Karma?" His name feels odd on your teeth, like you've heard it before. He nods, that hand going back into his hoodie, "Why were you following me?"
"Because you're new."
Well, that seemed truthful at least, even if it was only a half one.
"Where am I?"
Might as well ask Karma your questions since it's not like anyone else is here right now.
"The Veil."
Isn't that where Needle’s from? Maybe Karma knows Needle? He's a skeleton too, so perhaps they're related? It seems likely since Needle looks like Papyrus, and Karma like Sans. Only one way to find out though.
"Do you…" Grinding your teeth a bit, you watch as Karma tilts his skull looking amused, "Nevermind."
"No need to be shy, pretty little skeleton. I'm very happy to answer any of your questions."
Why does that feel so foreboding though?
"I just...are you related to…"
"To?"
You open your mouth to answer, but stop upon hearing a familiar voice that makes your soul soar.
"Fliss."
Whirling on your heel, you find Needle marching towards you, giving a sort of glare over your shoulder at Karma. Smiling in relief, and forgetting the other skeleton, you hurry forward towards your friend.
"Needle!"
Arms extended as you jog towards him, you see him stop and bend down, ready to scoop you up which he does as you reach him. Throwing your arms around his neck, you hug him to you tightly, feeling how his mask brushes against you gently.
"I'm so glad you're here." You murmur out, pulling back to look at his face, your hands reaching up to cup his cheeks, "I didn't know where I was, and just…"
"You were afraid." He fills in.
"I...yes." You admit, sheepishly.
"I will protect you."
You go to answer, touched by his chivalry, but are beaten to it by the other person, you and Needle seemed to have forgotten was here.
"Interesting."
Glancing down, you find Karma has made his way over. Needle immediately glares at him, feeling how disquiet his soul is.
"You are unneeded. Leave."
"Now, now." Karma smirks, "I believe I was keeping an eye on your lovely lady while she was away. I say a thank you is in order, don'tcha think, Needle?"
Needle sets you down in the snow beside him, but you immediately grab his hand to hold as he does. You can see the subtle flickering of Karma's eye light as you do this.
"She does not need your protection, Pin." He all, but spits the name, "Neither do I. So, you are unneeded. Leave."
Pin?
"Not the least bit happy to see your brother, Needle?" Karma chuckles lightly.
"Brother?" You blurt out curiously. Needle tugs you closer to him, the hand that had been holding yours, now resting on your upper back, and pressing you to him.
"Ah, he's never spoken of me then. I'm so very hurt." He murmurs, but doesn't actually look the least bit distressed. Instead, he seems amused, but that's all you're getting from him. Everything else is a mystery.
"You are not. You are being manipulative. Leave."
"I think I'd like to get to know the pretty little skeleton with you first. She is, I'm assuming, your Summoner."
"I am." You answer before Needle can, "He's my friend."
Karma suddenly chuckles loudly as if what you've just said is the funniest thing he's heard in a long time.
"Is he now? How fun." He still looks amused, but you keep feeling Needle’s upset over him being around. Why does Karma bother Needle?
"He is, it's our Contract." You blurt out, feeling oddly defensive for some reason. Needle suddenly grips onto you tightly like you shouldn't have said that. Karma on the other hand zones right in on what you've said.
"Is that so? Well, I'm sure he'll be a good friend to you then." He seems like he's being reassuring, and it settles your anxiety, "You know," He starts, his voice sounding calming, and kind, "I can be your friend."
"No." Needle instantly cuts him off, but Karma seems to ignore him, and keeps going.
"You're lonely, I understand. It can't be easy feeling so different from everyone else. It's hard for them to get what you go through."
"I...yeah." You whisper. He nods solemnly.
"Of course, having my brother must help, but even with him, it's so lonely. He's so cold, and distant at times."
"Enough!" Needle snaps, but Karma pushes it even more.
"It hurts, because you so obviously care for him. Perhaps...even love him?"
Your cheeks heat up, your soul speeding up. What do you say to that? It's true that sometimes Needle is distant, but he cares! You know he does! He has to...right?
"I...I…"
Karma shushes you gently like an old friend soothing you, "It's alright, I get it. That must be so hard. To love, and know he'll never love you back." His tone coos over you, making you begin to doubt, "I can be your friend," he whispers, and at some point he gets closer to you because now he's brushing his fingers against your cheek in a way that has you leaning into them. He leans in to whisper in your ear, "I can be your lover."
Suddenly, Needle moves. He grabs Karma by the throat, and starts shoving him back, smoke billowing from his mouth.
"You will not touch her! You will not go anywhere near her!"
Karma doesn't seem the least bit afraid as Needle’s hand squeezes his throat. Fear fills you. He's not going to kill him, right? ...Right?
"Someone should since you're not willing." Karma smirks at Needle, who snarls, that smoke turning darker the angrier he gets, the greyish clouds looking almost black now.
"Shut your fucking mouth!" Needle looks ready to blow. This is the angriest you've ever seen him, and it frightens you.
"Needle stop!" You cry out. When he doesn't listen, you try another tactic, "Papyrus, stop!"
Needle freezes. His hand releases his brother’s throat, and he whirls on you.
"His pretty words are fake! He manipulates, flirts, and pretends to be your friend!" Needle stomps to you, his hand reaching out to snatch up your arm, "I am your friend! I am the one who cares! I am the one who loves you!"
"Yes, you are, and I don't want to watch the man I love kill someone!"
Once again Needle freezes, this time in shock. The smoke coming from his mouth ceases, and instead is replaced by his colourful blush while his grip on you loosens. He blinks.
"You…"
Nodding, you reach up to remove his hand from your arm, and instead hold it.
"It doesn't matter if you're distant sometimes, Needle. I like you just the way you are, and I wouldn't change a single thing about you."
"How touching."
You look at Karma who is watching with interest, and bristle.
"It's true. You don't have to believe me."
"Oh, I believe you." He chuckles, "It wasn't your reaction that was interesting, little Lissa."
Your gaze goes from Karma back to Needle who's turned such a wide range of colours it's got you surprised. He grips your hand tightly as time ticks by with him saying nothing. Needle just continues to stare at you as if looking for the lie, looking for some fallacy in your declaration. Well, he won't find any. You were telling the truth.
"Well, it looks like he has nothing to say about your confession, little Lissa." Karma whispers in your ear. You jump. When had he gotten behind you? "It must hurt to know you've been scorned." His words weave through your mind, and it feels like even if you didn't think something, his words make it so, "I would never do that to you. Let me be your friend."
You're too afraid to turn around, as if doing so would make his words real. Luckily, you never have to since Needle is quick to snarl again, and shove his brother away from you.
"Be quiet. Your input is not required."
Needle pulls you against him, and you cling to his tattered clothing, finally turning to look at Karma. His expression is still the same. Nothing has changed, he's still got that amused, laid back smile. You'd swear he had no other emotion to emote, but that doesn't feel right. However, Karma isn't even watching you right now. He's watching Needle, and it hits you. This game he's playing, he's not playing with you.
He's playing with Needle.
Karma blinks slowly, purposefully, and chuckles lightly, "Ah, you really love her, don't you?"
"That is none of your business." Needle responds. Karma shrugs,
"Maybe not, but," Now he's looking at you, and finally his expression changes to something a bit more sinister, "It made her infinitely more interesting. Perhaps I shall have to-"
"No." Needle cuts him off, and in one swift movement scoops you up to hold you close to his chest, "We are done here."
Turning on his heel, Needle stomps off, Karma's laughter following him, along with what feels like a promise.
"You can't always be there when she sleeps, Needle." Then his gaze hits you, and your bones go cold at what you see over Needle’s shoulder. Dark blank sockets, and a wicked little smile. This was on purpose. He wants you to be creeped out, especially when he calls out, "See you soon, little Lissa."
You don’t respond to him. There’s nothing you can say to a creepy statement like that. Part of you hopes you never see him again, but another hopes you do. Something draws you to him, like it draws you to Needle. A sort of charm, or cosmic force, but whatever it is, you’re going to do your best to ignore it. Getting involved with Karma feels...dangerous.
“It is time for you to wake.”
Startling at Needle’s sudden voice in your ear, you stop looking over his shoulder to instead look at him. Your eye lights find his, and your brow furrows.
“Wake up?”
He nods, “You are asleep. It is the only way you are here.”
“Are you asleep?”
“Yes.”
“I thought you didn’t sleep?”
“There is a difference between don’t, and can’t, Fliss.” He reminds you.
He’s got a point there. You smile though hearing the Needle you adore telling you how it is. However, you still have to ask one important question despite his sass.
“How do I wake up though? I can’t just force myself to.” You point out.
“Like this.”
You swear he’s smiling as he suddenly drops you. A shriek sits in your throat as you flail, but you’re falling longer than you should, a blackness surrounding you while Needle gets smaller, and smaller until finally all that’s there is black.
Then nothing.
You stir, sockets still closed, feeling the softness of your bedding underneath you. Have you...woken? Blinking your tired sockets open, you glance around to find yourself in your dark room. It’s still so early in the morning, and as you get your bearings, you feel someone stir beside you. Turning in your bed, you find Needle blinking awake.
“Needle?” You whisper, groggily. His head turns to you, already completely lucid and sitting up.
“Yes?”
“Was that real?” You’re still in disbelief. Did that really actually happen?
“Yes.”
“Karma is real?”
“Unfortunately.”
Reaching for him, you’re met with him already moving to take your hand. He grasps it, and holds it gently in his large one, his presence already soothing your troubled mind from what just happened. Although one thing does still stay with you, and you have to ask.
“What did he mean you can’t always be there when I sleep?”
“Nothing you need to fret over, Fliss. It is fine.”
Somehow, you doubt that, but even as you lay with him sitting beside you, those lingering feelings of uneasiness start to fade away while tiredness creeps in. Moving, you lay your head in his lap which he allows without a word, or fight. You nuzzle into his leg, not bothered at all by his smoky scent.
“Thank you for coming for me.”
“I will always come for you.” He murmurs, his hand coming to rest on your skull where he pets softly.
“My hero.” You mumble sleepily, a smile on your face, “Needle?”
“Yes?”
“Is it safe to sleep?”
“Yes. I will stay with you.”
“Thank you.” You sigh, purring slightly in contentment, “I meant what I said,” you add as you begin to fall asleep again. Needle hums.
“Which is?”
“I love you.”
His movements stutter, and he fumbles ever so slightly, but manages to catch himself. Needle goes quiet. He just pets your skull as you fall asleep in his lap, but you know. In your soul, you know he cares, and as you're lulled into sleep again, you don't even need the soft words he utters just as it takes you.
“I...love you too.”
You know. It’s nice to hear though, but you knew, and it fills you with warmth as dreams overtake you.
Except this dream is odd. It’s not right. It feels like you’re swimming, but there’s no water. Everything is floaty, and off as a coldness seeps into your bones. What’s this? What’s happening?
“I told you I’d see you soon, Little Lissa.”
Head turning, you find none other than Karma sitting there, legs crossed as he floats in this nothingness. That sinister little smile is there, and the only feeling you have is that of a prey being hunted by a predator. Unfortunately for you, it seems you’ve been caught.
I very rarely ever just sit, and doodle, or show off wips for anything. Everything I do is extremely clean, but I do have sketchy stuff, I just rarely show it. I did all of these before bed while watching a video and thought I’d just post them for the poops, and giggles.
