I definitely forgot but @craicodiles tagged me in the selfies thing so here’s 6 pictures of my face from this god forsaken year of life. Idk if you guys have been tagged already or not, but I tag @viclemon12 @klemmonsforkaya @femininelatina @radicalgrandpa @allesxo and that’s all I can think of rn but I also tag anyone else who wants to do it!
also about the whole trash thing like... there are definitely people who use trash w/o meaning "support of imperfect media" like... this is kind of an irrelevant example but like say I've been looking at myself in the mirror for 10 minutes bc I love the way I look I'll be like "god I'm such trash" but like?? I'm doing the opposite of hating myself or what I'm doing lmao?? like her whole argument just made no sense and got a little to close to calling reverse racism real imo... just sayin tho
like I just don't think calling yourself "trash" for enjoying something is a form of self hate? like... its self deprecatory sure but that's been a popular form of humor for a while? and to say that everyone using it has never been impoverished is like ?? and just to say that it's like undermining the struggle of others is just... such a reach.
Reallyshe’s just trying so bad to make “trash” look like racial slur when it is notby all means a slur. It a fucking world that as ALL the stupid worlds of this world CHANGES when used indifferent contexts and that’s all. Slurs don’t change, they are created as suchand they are strictly tied to the target culture and only the target cultureshould be allowed to use the word as they please. It’s almost like she’s tryingto apply the same line of thinking to “trash”, so according to it only thepeople who’s been called “trash” has the right to integrate that world into theirlexicon, and that’s... just... so... ridiculous.
craicodiles replied to your post:tbh it’s more like a suuuuper aspirated ‘th’...
also they said claro and permiso were Chilean slang and like…. I know for a fact those are both commonly used in Venezuela so I think that’s just a South American thing overall tbh?
yeah their linguistic ethnography isn’t totally accurate but that’s okay, that’s fine, ta bien, no one here said language is a monolith
god is alive and has a blog and her url is craicodiles and i'm willing to sacrifice my first born to this fucking deity
ok do you truly believe that Korra wasn't shortchanged in the finale? we were given a ridiculous amount of the trash that is zhurrick. the ending scene took place at their wedding, rather than say a ceremony to honor korra and everything she had done for the city. also, while korrasami is definitely canon, I don't find it remotely believable that Korra (or any world leader??) would just up and leave for a vacation after a major crisis. idk what's ur opinion on those aspects of the finale?
Korra finally achieves an identity outside of that of being the avatar and goes on a vacation for a few days and leaves republic city in the hands of President Raiko, Tenzin, Su, Lin, Varrick, Zhu Li, every single person of the air nomads squad, Mako (who apparently does things). Because none of those people are capable of doing anything AND all the reconstruction has to happen right now. Because Republic City was built in a day and everything.
Korra has had major identity struggles over the course of the show. One major one being her trying to assert her identity as the avatar and alongside that trying to find an identity outside of being the avatar. Korra asserts her identity as the avatar when she faces Kuvira and offers her understanding and mercy. This happens when she saves her from the spirit energy gun and in their conversation inside the spirit world. The second major identity is concluded in her having the confidence to leave her role as the avatar behind for a brief period of time to spend quality time with someone she cared deeply about. Someone who saw her as someone beyond the avatar.
