I have been to several caverns in the U.S. but this one is truly unique. The cavern is a constant 58 degrees. Located deep inside the foothills of the Smoky Mountains near the city of Sweetwater in Eastern Tennessee, is the Lost Sea. Listed by the Guinness Book of World Records, it’s America’s largest underground lake. The Lost Sea is part of a historic cave system called Craighead Caverns. The tour includes the cavern tour and glass bottom boat ride. The underground lake contains rainbow trout (fishing is not allowed) The visible part of the lake is 800 feet long by 220 feet wide.
