¿Se acuerdan del caso que compartí de las bebes con “trastorno gemelo parasitario craneópago? (las mellizas que compartían un cerebro). Pues les tengo 2 buenas noticias:
1. No se murieron, a pesar de la poca expectativa de vida que su condición les ofrecía (lo que es casi un milagro). Por el contrario, son dos niñas alegres y llenas de vida.
2. Tiene super-poderes, que les permiten compartir ideas, sentidos, movimientos, ven, sienten, piensan y saborean lo mismo, lo que las ha convertido en un caso de estudio muy interesante para descubrir capacidades del cerebro humano que no tienen ni nombre todavía.
Y además son muy buenas amigas. Conciencia compartida. Quédense con esa idea...
Craniopagus twins are conjoined twins that are fused at the cranium. There are one in 2.5 million people who have this rare condition. Sadly, the vast majority of twins born do not survive 24 hours. Krista and Tatiana Hogan were born in October in 2006. Their brains are connected by a thalamic bridge and this makes them unique in every way.
