The sea serpent and the Crane witcher
Maelor the Crane grumbled in annoyance as he rowed out to the sea, leaving the massive ship behind. He was out on a contract to hunt a sea monster. Some kind of serpent according to the people he spoke to. The beast reportedly had a strangely shaped head, big and had been twisting this way and that. That meant it was extremely agile. Maelor didn't much like agile sea monsters, they were a bitch to fight, often eeling out of his way before he could get a strike in. But he was being paid handsomely, 200 up front and another 100 after the job was done and even if he failed, he'd get to keep the down-payment. But that did mean he had to go on a skelliger ship, all the way to the sea, which was fine with him. He loved the ocean, he just didn't like rowing out in dinky little shitty ass rowing boats.
So here was sitting in his little boat, holding a fishing rod with live bait, waiting for the monster to show up.
What he got was the mating call of a whale. Followed by a second and then a third. His boat rocked in the water as two powerful bodies twisted around each other in the water. That's when he saw it. The sea monster.
Maelor stared for a moment, hearing the cries of "whales" and "sea serpent" coming from the ship. His lips twitched in amusement as he watched the 'sea serpent' rising from the water. It indeed twisted this way and that. But it was no sea serpent, not of the monstrous variety, at least.
No. Maelor began laughing, doubling over and gasping for breath as the giant 'sea serpent' moved around in the air, flopping around, attached to the twisting form of a whale. The so-called sea serpent was a wale dick.
Maelor laughed and laughed and still laughing began rowing his way back to the ship. Upon arriving he was still chuckling in mirth and when asked why he didn't fight the sea serpent he let loose a peel of laughter again and in between gasping for breath told them of the whale dick flopping around in the air. Sighs of relief and waves of laughter met his tale.
