Pretty cool pictur eof the Shay locomotive crankshaft and the geared drive splines — these were considered "geared locomotives" indeed!

I wish them well on their restoration👍 ... common pitfall is to try and simplify the drive line, which then results in binding and a locomotive that doesn't run (as has happened with many attempted Shay locomotive restorations)
