Sgt. Norwood Dorman of Benson, N.C., 36th Field Artillery Regiment, stops to rest at an Italian WWI memorial. Brolo, Sicily, Italy. 14 August, 1943.
Damn, surprised his name wasn't Willie or Joe — Mauldin would've sketched his dogfaced mug
We used to have high speed rail in America, 100 years ago now... (WTF has happened between now and then???!!!)
👉The NYC Niagras here look like screenshots from a film, but which one? (AI wasn't even helpful for me to identify it this time 🧐)
The Lindau-Insel rail embankment
Lindau's historical centre is on an island, which requires some kind of structure if trains are going to reach it - which they do. Given the relatively placid nature of the Bodensee, an embankment would suffice, so, since the opening of the Bavarian line from Munich in the 1854, that's what's been in place.

H-Line Shipping's new cryogenic LNG tanker, the M/V PUTERI JOHOR
...anyway, this big 🔋 LNG tanker is kind of a big deal, and it's also worth noting that the cryogenic LNG is far and away, by orders of magnitude, much more energy dense than even LiPo batteries.

This exact image was captured by photographer Alec Basanec.
He took this photo during a road trip to San Francisco and the surrounding coastline, featuring the iconic winding roads of Mount Tamalpais (specifically near Trojan Point) above the Bay Area's famous low fog.
This scenic winding road is located on Mount Tamalpais (often called Mt. Tam) in Marin County, California, just north of San Francisco. The specific spot shown is known for its dramatic "low fog" or "rolling fog" phenomenon, where a thick marine layer blankets the valleys while the peak remains clear, especially during summer sunsets. This particular curve with its lone tree is a highly popular destination for photographers.

FWIW new miilitary 🇹🇷 MKE MP5SD / T94SD are ~€1500 so, if you could buy one, ask yourself, is this USD$5000 "arm-brace loophole special" better or worse?

Underwater exploration by train? Nagaragawa Railway company in Gifu Prefecture, Japan — I think honoring the natural history of the eponymous Nagaragawa River.
