"Ananas," Kaupunkiliikenne Oy:n työvaunu 2282.
Ripustin pyykkejä parvekkeella kun tämä meni ohi aiemmin tänään kohti Nihdissä olevaa 13:n kääntösilmukkaa. Pyykit jäivät siihen, vedin hupparin niskaan, nappasin kameran mukaan ja hilppaisin ulos josko saisin kuvan tästä 80-luvun matkustajavaunusta muutetusta työvaunusta. Ja ihan kelpo kuvahan siitä tuli.
(Olenko hitonmoinen nörtti? Ehkä).
💯 👍
"Ananas" = "Pineapple" Helsinki Metropolitan Transport distinctive yellow work wagon 2282 (built 1982!!!) ...was hanging laundry on the balcony when this one passed by earlier today —the laundry was left there! I pulled my hoodie around my neck, grabbed my camera and rushed out to see if I could get a picture of this converted '80s tram car that's now for maintenance of way. And it turned out to be a pretty decent picture!
If I were to guess, I'd notice the funny pantograph. ...and since the Kaupunkiliikenne Oy in Helsinki, Finland is a 1,000 mm (metre gauge) tramway, and that it does tend to get pretty dang cold in Finland, I searched for overhead electrification de-icing vehicles and got this article:
FINLAND: Helsinki transport operator Kaupunkiliikenne’s maintenance division has converted an old tram into a overhead electrification
🍍🚋
🤣 calling it a "pineapple tram" cracks me up!
OP asks, "(Am I a damn nerd? Maybe)" — er, I'm not going to answer that and I invoke my right against self-incrimination ...
However, if it's cold enough to need to de-ice the overhead wire, I want to know what happened to OP's laundry that was abandoned 🧺🧊🧊🧊???

And then there's whatever fetish the Bundeswehr had for covering their Leopards from track to turret...
(I think that's a Leopard 2 underneath all that but actually I can't even tell...)

Bonner, MT
Here's more information on this car (archive link).
The car was built in 1925 by Pullman and used for several special occasions in the 1940s, including by President Truman. In 1965 it became the official car of the superintendent of the Oregon Division of the Southern Pacific Railway. It was completely rebuilt in 1981–1982, the trucks were rebuilt in 1990 and it was refurbished again in 1998 to make it Amtrak-compliant. It has a daytime capacity of eight persons and it sleeps five passengers and two crewmen. It's cleared for use as a private railcar on American railways and is for sale at $625K.
$625k USD not getting you interior design, unfortunately...

Gulflander train returns to Queensland’s outback
Gulflander train services have returned in Queensland after the annual wet season closure and the completion of repair work on the track…. Read the full article
Full press release. But if you just want pictures this trainset, this amazing piece of Shire rail heritage has resumed service and hopefully it'll be that way for a long time more yet

...then there's this relic:
In case you were wondering (as I was) they trainsets are turned on a wye (aka turning triangle), to change direction each time for the return trip. A fun and worthwhile bit of railroading!
