#samwelltarly's character growth since season one of #gameofthrones has been second only to #sansastark's for me, and #johnbradley's performance has been stellar. Sam's acceptance of his strengths - in a supporting role, doing research and gaining knowledge and running things behind the scenes, versus his weaknesses in combat and in his physicality really resonate with me. He first began to impress me in season three, after the mutiny at #crasterskeep: his survival instinct kicked in, he grabbed #gilly and ran. Since then, their relationship has blossomed wonderfully, and their scenes in episode six were so awesome. I have been looking forward to seeing #housetarly on screen for a long time now, and I was not disappointed. It was so devastating to see how easily Sam's cruel father #randylltarly verbally beat his son down, even after hearing about his accomplishments and ambitions, and so heartening to see his mother #melessatarly and Gilly stand up for him and express their disgust at Randyll. It's obvious that Sam's strength is from his mother, not his father. I loved Sam's scenes with #stannisbaratheon last year, too: finally, someone showed appreciation for his intelligence and bookishness, and, fun fact: they are related by marriage! #selysebaratheon and Melessa are cousins. Anyway, back to my #mcm: I'm so excited to see where his journey takes him, and what his role will be in the wars to come, and Bradley's excellent continued portrayal of him.
