Sam's parents
Am I the only one who finds Lord Randyll Tarly's relationship with his wife very cute, not to mention funny?
This is literally the man who told his own son;
"You are almost a man, but you are not worthy of my lands and my title. Tomorrow you will take the black doe, renounce all your inheritance and ride north. If you do not, we will go on a hunt… and somewhere in these woods your horse will stumble and you will be thrown from the saddle to die. Or so I will tell your mother. Nothing would please me more."
Did you get it?
"Or so I will tell your mother"
In the world of ASOIAF/GOT, men are known for being ruthless and that their wives cannot even question their decisions and orders. It is also canon how ruthless Lord Tarly is, but even so, he has a relevant consideration in preserving his wife from the fact that he would kill their son. I don't think many men in canon would have this concern.
Lord Tarly can be more sullen than Tywin Lannister, but even so his wife is able to make him soften (at least for her)
There's also that moment in the series where after Sam's mother leaves after Randyll insults Gilly, Lord Tarly says;
"Your mother is a good woman and you don't deserve her"
Maybe I created a headcanon that Lord Tarly is like Tywin was to his wife "All his smiles were for her and her alone".
