This was a study I saw around last year but has always struck me as an interesting visual presentation of not only linguistics, but cultural differences between regions. The vocabulary choices (”pop” vs “soda”, “water fountain” vs “bubbler”, etc) probably seem very contrasted depending on your familiarity with a region, whether you’ve lived or visited there. In this example, “Crayon” can be spoken as:

“Cray-awn” (like ‘dawn’)
“Cran” (1 syllable)
“Crown” (also 1 syllable)
