Cadillac has been dubbed the "World Standard" since its early days, and it has lived up to that title for many years as the largest luxury automaker in the United States. Founded by Henry Leland in 1902, the firm has targeted the luxury market from the outset. Her first inventions were interchangeable parts, an electric starter, a hardtop and a V8 engine. In 1909, Cadillac became part of the General Motors concern and since then has been its luxury division.
In the year of its 100th anniversary, Cadillac presented at the Detroit Motor Show a completely uncharacteristic car - the central-engined supercar Cadillac Cien (translated from Spanish as "one hundred").
This concept car, designed by Simon Cox, showcased the fusion of design and technology in a single monocoque structure made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic.
Its design was inspired by the F-22 Raptor fighter, but retains the traditional Cadillac grille and vertical headlights. The side air vents and a rear spoiler integrated into the boot lid opened automatically.
Access to the salon was opened by scissor doors, and the upper roof panel was removed, turning the 2-seater coupe into a targa.
At the rear, under transparent glass, was an experimental 750 hp 7.5-liter V12 aluminum engine built in cooperation with Prodrive. It had two camshafts, direct fuel injection and a half-cylinder shut-off system, which reduces fuel consumption.

The car was equipped with a semi-automatic transmission from Formula 1.
Dynamic stabilization system, night vision device, ultrasonic parking assistance, OnStar device, rear view camera, two LCD displays, Communiport system with voice activation, combining computer, audio, navigation and wireless communication as well as 19 "front and 21" rear wheels.
