Last night, I was on my porch swing.... drinking about a finger of whiskey. My neighbor came over, and laid 5 hundred dollars beside me. With a shit eating grin....he sat across from me. With a giggle and devil horns growing out of his head... He said...
"I double dog dare you...."
My eyebrows raised and I was thinking...Oh...hell no...he did not start with a double dog dare.
"To do not one thing tomorrow. No cleaning or working on your vehicles. No cleaning or repairing the house. No driving anywhere. You can read, cook, eat, use the bathroom, music, games, nap for an hour, and use the Internet 30-40 minutes at a time. No washing your dishes, no putting dishes away, no laundry ... "
Basically, it was a bet that I do nothing and he will give me 5 hundred bucks. My stubborn ass due to it being a double dog dare said.. "OK. That's easy."
I was so very wrong, and I almost lost my mind...
Dirty dishes in the sink...
Crumbs on the counter...
Trash needed to go out...
Spills... I could not touch.
I was nail biting and was going to throw in the towel. Until my neighbor put his hands on my arm and said ... "I'll wash the dishes, clean the mess up, and take the trash out."
It wasn't until late afternoon... I understood what message my neighbor was teaching me.
I am always on the go... I do not sit still... I get bored quickly... I am always busy...
It just comes down to me running away from something, and I need to face it. I do not have to do this alone...
But the question is am I ready to deal with it?
Something to think about ....
Plus, I did not take the 5 hundred dollars... Even though he said I will need it for gas money. When I take him to see his wife at the cemetery. Gas will not cost 5 hundred dollars but less than 20 bucks. We do not fight about money. For I know he'll just hide it somewhere in my house, and 6 months later I'll find it. 🙄
