I might be able to balance all three of these classes 🤔
This just really made my day! I can't help but share it everywhere.
There's been so many moments of doubt along the way with this project, little wins like this make all the difference
Burn Notice Statistics?
If anyone is interested in doing a rewatch of Burn Notice from season 1 and keeping count of certain things just for kicks and giggles you can message me or respond to this. I'm planning on making a master post of all the stats like a friend of mine did for Supernatural. I have a ridiculously long list and could use some help. Examples include: yogurt count, every time Michael says "When you're a spy", and a count of how many cars are stolen. I think it will be fun but I'm a little crazy so...yeah.
Queen Mab
I will be performing and reciting the whole entire queen mab speech from romeo and juliet tomorrow. I reeeeeaaaally don't want to. well i have too, okay byee
SUPER DUPER HOMESTUCK SHIPPING CHART: Ginormous Edition
So I've been pretty antisocial the last few days, just going PFFFT PEOPLE in general. But while doing that I was working on a project that I finally finished tonight;
You've seen a Homestuck shipping chart before, right? Fun meme to do now and then. Recently I saw one of the biggest ones I've ever seen: find it here on dA by GameGeekAdvanced.
Fuck is the most appropriate name ever.
And it made me decide to do an edit, to add more characters. The end result is over 3000x3000 in size (around twice the size of GGA's chart .-. ) and something that doesn't have ALL the characters, but is pretty damn close. It has around 80 characters now.
Not 100% polished, and some things were just weird (thinking how to do Alpha version of Dave etc was the hardest bit) but this works. Grab the file here if you feel like messing with.
Preview of the stupid big thing:
2:33 am, and I have discovered that Sherman's Gallifreyan is flawed.
Unfortunately, I can't tell the difference between O and E, or U and I. On the chart, the difference is easy. In practice, there's no discernible difference.
The solution is simple.
I will make my own alphabet!
Later.
After I sleep.

A Place to Work It Out
This is a blog about making the community you want using the resources you have on hand: your mind, your heart, your friends, your job, your hands, yourself. It's about looking around and seeing what can be and not what is, about building capacity through people, about trying crazy things just because you can, and about not letting the past control the future. It's a blog about promoting people and realizing your own power to produce culture and community.
About me:
I recently spent a year being unemployed and, before that, I spent many, many years being dissatisfied with my job, my life, and my town. Being unemployed taught me a lot about what it means to produce things outside of a modern place of production (i.e. a "workplace"). I wasn't getting paid, but I was far from idle. My work (which, for lack of a better term, we'll call "volunteering") wasn't valued in the sense that it garnered me wages, but it earned me serious emotional and mental dividends, many friends, and some cultural cred that I used to fuel new projects.
You know what? That stuff has value, too.
About three months ago, I found employment as the director of a public library and moved to a new town. Since then, I've been wrestling with how to reconcile the lessons I learned from my non-workplace production with the things I already know about "working." My new town is a rural, mid-western town, a county seat. It is small, and census figures indicate it is getting smaller. Everyone in the town knows that it needs SOMETHING--jobs, local businesses, cultural attractions--SOMETHING; but no one is sure where to turn or what to do or how to do it. I can't help but think that the experiences I had while unemployed can be useful in this situation.
And that's why I'm starting this blog. I need a place to collect my ideas, connect with others, document the process, and hone this philosophy. I want to be a catalyst for the type of DIY community building that only comes from the activity of local people working locally. I want to promote what I'm doing and others are doing in and around our town. It's probably going to be a messy place. It's probably going to switch from topic to topic. It's probably going to make some people cheer and some people boo... But I don't care. In this world, we've only got one chance to make a difference. I don't need permission to do my best and I don't need kudos for getting up off the couch and getting to work. Everything I need is already available, all the resources are already at hand. All I need is my mind, my heart, my hands and other people.
