Fanta/Spirou in mermaid au?

Fantasio listened his boyfriend’s peaceful breathing as he laid in bed next to him. His thoughts returned to Zantafio’s letter. It had been simple: “It’s time for me to go. Goodbye, cousin.”

‘Goodbye’, as if the family curse wouldn’t affect him. Fantasio moved closer and embraced Spirou.

“Mh?” the redhead mumbled.

Fantasio buried his face in Spirou’s hair, trying to focus on him.

And ignore the call of the ocean he could feel in his bones, stronger with each passing day.

“You said you’d never lie to me.”

Prunelle stopped typing on his keyboard and looked up at thebellhop standing in front of his desk. He’d been trying to avoid Spirou’s gazethe whole conversation but something about the betrayal and despair in Spirou’svoice made him finally stop and look up.

When he saw Spirou’s face he could see how distraught helooked.

“Well, Spirou… I…” Prunelle didn’t know what to say. He hadknown Spirou was going to find out eventually, but even so he’d kept it asecret. He’d wanted to avoid the boy going through any pain, but in the end it seemedkeeping the truth from him had just made it more of a betrayal when things hadcome to light.

“You told me that you’d always me tell me about how Fantasiowas, and no matter what happened you wouldn’t keep any secrets or lie to me.” Spirousaid. He looked up, there were tears at the corner of his eyes. “Why didn’t youtell me Fantasio was dead?”

Prunelle stood up from his desk. “Spirou… I… I wanted tospare you any heartache… I was trying to figure out the best way to tell you.”

“I can’t believe he’s gone, just like that…” Spirou startedto cry, he started sobbing right in the middle of Prunelle’s office.

Prunelle stood up, not sure what to do. He wasn’t quiteprepared to handle this situation. Hearing that Fantasio had been shot wasquite a shock to him, though he should have known it would hit the bellhop evenharder, of course no one was as close as those two. He could see Spirou wasdevastated as he carried on crying, but Prunelle had no idea what to do.

He gave Spirou a pat on the shoulder, unsure about whether thatwould even help at all.

“There, there…” he said, having no clue what to do next.

Even as he said that, it was a lie. He had known better. From the first moment he had kissed him, he had known there would be no future in it.

For a while it had been wonderful. For a while he had believed quick clandestine meetings in shady hotel rooms or hideouts would be enough. But day by day he had become more and more aware of how fragile this status quo was.

So he had decided to destroy it. Kidnap Fantasio. Force Spirou to choose.

And like he had always known, the bellhop had chosen his cousin. Zantafio had given him the choice of taking Fantasio’s life and stepping over to his side, or letting Fantasio live and rejecting him.

Zantafio looked Spirou in the eye: “I really thought you loved me.”

Spirou looked like he was going to say something but just drew in a shaky breath. Whatever it was they had had was over.

And in some way Zantafio was satisfied.

▀ What they’d hide under the bed

Lots and lots of comics. Also her old stuffed toys from when she was younger get stuffed under there, they’re in charge of guarding the comics. Also quite possibly teenage diaries and journals no one is allowed to read.

WAAAAAYYYY too late reading comics and stories of their favourite character. (What? This totally isn’t based off anyone I know)

☼ Favourite time of day

Daytime, in the afternoon. After getting home from school and it’s time to read books and comics, or maybe going out to help her grandpa at the market and seeing what sort of stuff they have for sale there. And also making up grand adventures of exactly how all those things got there.

It’s a cluttered mess. Later when he lives with Prunelle he’s forced to keep it tidy though.

An airhorn, a saxophone an explosion or two.

Nope. Apart from when he experimented with his new improved laundy powder and stole every one else’s dirty laundy too...

♆ The worst kind of neighbour they could have, and how they deal with them

Someone that really hates pets or animals. They complain a lot about Spip and the Marsupilami and Spirou is constantly fighting with them over his animals. Someone that makes lots of complaints about Spirou and Fanta being trouble causers and constantly makes complaints about them.

Or any of their old enemies. Those would be pretty bad to have.

✓ What a typical Tuesday night looks like

“Typical” is a tough word for them. With the amount of adventures they go on. Foiling the schemes of some even villain feels more typical for him and Fanta than a day where they manage to stay at home.

When they do though, Spirou stays at home, and Fantasio tends to work at the office, so he gets back and Spirou cooks since Fanta’s been working all day (as a result this tends to be the day the food is most bland, or maybe order pizza. They then just lounge around on the sofa, watching a TV show or some movie, and they tend to criticise it all the way through.

A nice bright sunny day. Waking up to a nice day instantly gets Spirou excited for ADVENTURE!

How differently do they think of each other now compared to when they first met?

Spirou’s opinion of Gaston went from ‘I don’t know him but he’s okay I guess’ to ‘Uhhh I am suddenly too busy to hang out at the office bye’ to ‘he’s okay I guess’

Gaston went from: “I bet he’s a stuck up boyscout,” to “he’s a bit stuck up but he has such a cute squirrel! (and he’s not that bad looking himself.)”

What do their friends/family think of their relationship?

No one saw it coming. I guess if this ship would happen it’d be in AUs where Fantasio/Prunelle ends up being a thing so they can go on double dates.

Aunt Hortense thinks Spirou is a very nice boy.

How do their personalities/skills complement or contrast with each other?

Gaston keeps surprising Spirou and making him more social, Spirou makes Gaston more organized.

What is their favorite aspect of each other?

Gaston thinks Spirou is adorable, Spirou appreciates how Gaston respects (once they become a couple) his boundaries.

Do either of them have pet peeves about each other?

Gaston can get annoyed with Spirou wanting order, Spirou gets frustrated with Gaston’s rhythm that interferes with his routine.

How would each reconcile with each other after a fight?

They make Spip the go-between, talk to him instead of directly each other.

What would be their ideal vacation getaway together?

They go camping on the countryside.

Think of a new way (AU, different situation, etc.) they could have met for the first time.

Spirou is a squirrel that gets hurt and is brought back to health by Gaston.

Spirou and Zanta's kid pls x)

Name:Xanier (or Xantafio, but usually only called that by Zanta) He was accidentally created by Zanta who attempted to make a brainless clone of Spirou but ended up mixing his own DNA to the mix (some people suspect it might not have been exactly an accident, but Zanta’s and Spirou’s relationship is something Spirou is not interested in talking about. In any case, S&F found the lab and Spirou adopted Xanier as his son)

Gender:boy

General Appearance:dark hair, as an adult when he tries growing a beard his beard is reddish. He stays shorter than either of his parents.

Personality:He is not stupid, but doesn’t have much interest in studying and drops out of high school. He tends to befriend people easily but those friendships rarely develop into anything particularly deep.

Special Talents:likes to draw, is more of a visual learner in general, has picked up skills like taming marsupilamis and flying a plane just by being pulled into adventures with his dad Spirou and uncle Fanta. Also bellhop powers.

Who they like better:Zantafio was absent most of his childhood, and they only connected when he was a teen, so Spirou generally. Xanier  thought Zanta was really cool at first until it became apparent he hadn’t turned a new leaf despite telling Spirou that, and had to go on a run from the law again.

Who they take after more:Spirou had a bigger part in raising him but some Zanta-like expressions and personality traits pop up every now and then.

Personal Head canon:He thought for the longest time he was the result of Spirou getting some of his fangirls accidentally pregnant and while Spirou never told him anything apart from considering himself to be his father, Xanier did blame Spirou later for misleading him.
