Saw Spider-Man Brand New Day.

I thought it was a very competent and enjoyable superhero movie. Bernthal was about what I was cautiously optimistic he'd be. It's still Bernisher but at least it takes enough influence from the 70's and the 80's to work and he's a supporting character which they have easier time adapting... I do have additional thoughts about the character's relationship to the MCU etc though

been reading rucka's 2011 punisher run and it's funny how nothings changed because people complained about MCU frank's stupid beard in "one last kill" too lol. exact words and everything.

checchetto frank looks cooler though (and im not even the biggest fan of this look, i too prefer clean shaved frank)

this sounds insane outloud but besides calling him the big boss design i also call the checchetto design the "yaoi design" in my head because everytime i see frank x matt fanart it's that one design that gets used. or the zdarsky DD run one. they have such an specific vibe like i think ive seen guys like these in multiple yaoi mangas at this point

I think an important thing to understand about the superhero genre- or, at bare minimum, something that I wish more listicles and comment section participants would understand- is that just because a farcical superhero or villain is canon to the DC or Marvel Universe doesn't mean they weren't conceived of, or executed as, a parody. Dogwelder is not meant to be taken seriously in the slightest. He is exactly as canon to the setting as Batman

Say what you will about Bernthal's punisher, but he was great in Daredevil and actually competent.

Yeah it's a pretty common take that he peaked in Daredevil S2 where this version originates from and I agree, although I have my issues with even that...

But also he isn't the Punisher on that season, the whole season is literally him going through the arc of becoming the Punisher (which they then just backpedal on constantly)

#frank castle #this is why i will argue that warzone is the only actual live action punisher adaptation #and frankly i get it if you don't want to engage with those aspects of the character #but then don't try to adapt them at all #the adaptations just keep doing his family dying and him taking revenge #which is not what the character is about #also his MO was... flawed in S2 but he was going through some stuff i guess

Unfortunately I quite like most of Batman's supporting cast, so I end up reading Batman comics (most of which are not good) and every time Batman shows up I get annoyed because I am forced to look at that annoying man

The problem with Batman in his present incarnation is that we need simultaneously to believe that this is a man who can effortlessly ninja his way through dozens of gun-toting mercenaries, and that this is a man to whom Danny DeVito with an umbrella is a credible threat.

Okay, that was glib – let me expand. I'm fully aware that Batman comics generally don't have him fighting guys like the Penguin one on one these days. That's not the problem. The problem is that superhero power creep has rendered Batman functionally immune to hired goons, but owing to his roots as a street-level vigilante, like half of his classic villains are guys whose primary threat vector is the ability to field arbitrary numbers of hired goons. There just aren't a lot of ways to work around that without either doing violence to the villain's idiom or making Batman carry the idiot ball – though I'll grant that some of the attempted workarounds have been very entertaining!

You joke, but that's literally one of the workarounds I'm referring to. One of the reasons that recent Batman stories keep looping back around to ancient ninja conspiracy stuff is that an answer to "how do we make hired goons a credible threat when Batman is an invincible ninja?" is "the hired goons are also ninjas".

To be honest I think you will be fine. Frank and Peter have not met so far in the MCU so they'll set up the relationship in the movie. It seems to be based on the early 70's/80's when Punisher was a supporting character in the Spider-Man comics, so basically this:
