“Paper Mache Haul”
A few weeks ago I bought a bunch of paper mache forms online. They were just things I thought would be fun to paint. So I found an elephant and a brontosaurus on Amazon for about $6 each. I specifically wanted to paint them like I did that pug statue a few weeks ago. Though this time I didn’t use nail polish. Instead I thinned out craft paint with airbrush medium and began pouring.
I also found an awesome selection of paper mache items on CreateForLess.com. I hadn’t shopped through the website before, but was very pleased with what I got. Obviously the prices were very affordable. Plus they had items I couldn’t even find on Amazon. Some of the things I got were a paper mache pineapple and two cubes. I painted the pineapple quite simply with neon yellow and turquoise paint.
For the cubes I took the poured approach again. But this time I thinned the craft paint with a different solution. I was running low on airbrush medium, so I used some matte decoupage glue instead. It was runnier than regular glue making it easy to pour. Though I did add in a few drops of water just in case. I alternated the colours allowing the paint to flow over the edges. One of the cubes tipped over at one point, so it did get a little messed up but I managed to fix it. I’m just going to use these paper mache things for little décor items for my room. Over all it was a fun craft to make this past weekend.
