BA3B COLOUR WHEEL CREATING / Mercerised Cotton Today I decided to focus my attention on creating my own colour wheel so that I have a clearer understanding of colour. I used procion dyes for my colour wheel as these are the coloured dyes I will be using for my final term. To begin with, I started off with 3.0g of the following procion dyes; - Bright Turquoise MX-G - Lemon Yellow MX-4G - Cherry Red P-4BN - Black MX-K - For the white I used 100g of procion print paste Each colour procion dye I mixed with 100g print paste. Creating a colour wheel is pretty self explanatory, but I wanted to understand more in depth how to create secondary colours and how to avoid creating muddy colours. This will help me for when I am colour matching for my final colour palettes. If I was to create a colour wheel again, I would concentrate on how much black I put in each colour as the colours began to get muddy and too dark to see the colours full potential. Apart from this, I would also consider using a larger piece of fabric sp that I had more space to go in even more depth into each colour. Overall, I am pleased that I created a colour wheel as it has made me more confident when mixing colours together without making muddy colours. Understanding colour is a process I will be continuing to understand in this final project.
