Today’s blogpost writen by Lucia.
Today we went on an amazing adventure. This adventure began at 6:30 in the morning when we started off in our two giant Icelandic grade 4 wheel drive cars. We were a mix of playful teens, amazing program leaders, and 1 beautifully crazy photographer. Together we began our journey. Our first stop was Vik the home of the black sand beaches. In this beautiful and magical location, Stephan, our fearless teacher gave us a series of assignments to complete in order to achieve the best photographs, some of the tasks included the most melancholy shot possible, best action shot, postcard photos and close ups. After the tasks were concluded I pulled out the cat mask which Molly and I had painted the night before for our Alice in Wonderland inspired short film. I proceeded to sport the mask as the rest of the group took photographs. Meanwhile this colorful feline scared many tourists and many thought I was a performance art piece and they too stopped to photograph me. After this we went another two hours by car to the wonderful Vatnajokull glacier. First, we ventured on a small hike around the cliff that faced the glacier and then we pulled out the face paint! I proceeded to paint my face like a warrior, and then we all decided to paint our faces. Then we, as a tribe, went to the glacier lagoon. This lagoon was completely majestic. It was insane. Stephan’s exercise for us there was to photograph each other as warriors. Each of us grabbed a partner and photographed one another in our most pure and primal sense. After the glacier lagoon we went back to our humble abode, having completed a 9 hour car drive, beautiful photographs and watercoloring warriors.
