Looking inspirationally at @lifeisatrial's tireless psyop in making this fandom care about Paul Weller/The Jam/Paolo Hewitt and Goldie amongst other admirable achievements and thinking about how I can similarly bait this fandom into getting into Super Furry Animals. Like did you all know they were on the same label. And so every extra million Noel Gallagher made Alan McGee ended up going towards funding something insane like the mbv album or in Super Furry Animals' case, a military tank. Which they converted into a mobile soundsystem and drove to Glastonbury. While blasting techno. In protest of sound laws. And painted “Is there peace?” on the side of a TANK. AND THEN got an international drug dealer and fugitive who was on the run at the same time from the CIA and MI6, who was known for his work on public policy on cannabis, to remix a song called Smoking. A song. CALLED SMOKING. And then when he got out of prison in the US they took him to Glastonbury and he loved them very much. And they have a song about Bill Clinton coming in Monica Lewinsky's mouth

what did creation have that the others didn’t? i mean why did you want to put pen to paper with them?

we love their music.

yea! good bands….and they’re really upfront. none of this ‘hey give me a ring in the week and we’ll do lunch’. its like ‘hey we want to do it, let’s get jimmy pierce to produce the album’. and we’re like yeaaaaaa!

there’s been comparisons to oasis as well. i’m sure the fact you’re on their label probably helps but it has i suppose got a similar sort of guitar feel to it. would you admit to that?

um yea we’d admit to that! yea we’d admit to that. i reckon noels heard t rex. so yea great!

My Bloody Valentine - “Angel”

Noel - Somebody, who was in a band in Glasgow, knew us through somebody else and said: "do you know any bands that would come up and play a gig, so they said "well I know this band called Oasis" so he said, well will you ask them "will they come up", so we said yeah, "we'll come up".

We hired a van, put loads of people in it, we charged them money for the petrol. I said "you're paying money towards the petrol, we'll get you into the gig for free, we'll have a good night" and they said fine.

So we got to the gig after driving all day, and the promoter said "I've never heard of you, you not supposed to be playing here tonight, so you know, we not gonna let you play", so we sort of pointed out the fact to him that he had two security guards on the door and there were seventeen of us. I sorta stood there and said "so what you gonna do about that then?", and he said "ummmmm, well if you put it like that, I suppose I can give you sorta half an hour."

So we went on. When the doors opened, it was about half seven, started playing and unbeknown to us Alan McGee just missed his train back to London round the corner and he had an hour to kill for the next train and he just decided that he was going for drink in the club, walked in the door as we were going on stage, and someone said, he said "who's this band" and they said "oh there a bunch of guys who just threatened to smash the place if we didn't let them play" and he went "all right, they any good?"

They said "never heard of them, they're from Manchester aren't they, some lippy mancs. Bought a drink, watched us do the gig, came off stage, give us a six album deal.
