8: Did any real people or events inspire any part of it?

real events: my childhood friend once won penis pasta at a white elephant gift exchange & another friend told me the horror story Kageyama tells Hinata in chapter 1. I can’t think of any other specific things, but I drew a LOT on the feelings I had in my first ever serious relationship!

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?

The alternate version: one where it was a two-chapter long oneshot that didn’t acquire a life of its own. (Obviously, this was only something I told myself... I couldn’t have stopped writing kagehina if I’d tried, and iltwycs was a nice receptacle for it since I’d already laid the groundwork.)

13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn't listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?

There were a lot of fanmixes on 8tracks. One of them had “This Tornado Loves You” on it by Neko Case and that had such beautiful lyrics that it really helped spur me on. (Songs with nice lyrics make me want to write more/better, like I need to deserve the feeling the song gives me. It’s not super applicable to kagehina beyond both of them being pretty tornado-ey in their ways.)

14: Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?

that kagehina belong together---AHEM. This is such a nice question! I think I wanted people to see a supportive first relationship? Obviously the kagehinas aren’t very mature, and a lot of their canon dynamic is tearing at each other, but when someone is important to you you have to treat them that way, even if you’re not very good at it.
