Creative Coding Artist Spotlight

Saskia Freeke
Saskia is an artist, visual & interaction designer, creative coder, and educator originally from the Netherlands, now based in London. She uploads a geometric creation or coding experiment every day and has been doing so since the 1st of January 2015.
She mainly uses Processing for her 3D geometric animations, but she also uses Hype Framework, a processing library for graphics and generative art. To create the base geometric patterns or designs for her code experiments, Saskia uses Hexels, a grid-based vector drawing program often used for pixel art and animations. She then exports these drawn patterns into Processing or Hype Framework and randomly generates them across a canvas.
Saskia talks fondly of learning creative coding and encourages others to pursue it, in her own words, ‘Best thing is to try stuff out, copy stuff, change stuff, play with it, destroy things. Not much can go wrong, you won’t break the program. Have fun exploring new things.’
