A bit late, but welcome to Spring Term!  

This time around I am taking Old Testament and Creative Non-Fiction.  Above are my class notes for the latter, and then my notes from my textbook. 

This first week has been hell.

"HUMBLE BEAST!" by Fernando Mose

Kyrie Irving is a basketball superstar in National Basketball Association (NBA). He signed in the team "Brooklyn Nets". I admired him because he is a great player with a heart. Even if we see him beast mode in the court, He is a humble and caring person especially with his fans. He does not forget to look down from where he came from. Also one thing that made me idolized him is that he donates half of his salary to the charity that supports hundreds of children. That's the reasons why I admire him the most.

“Sisters by heart” by Arian Castro

"No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are thoroughly persuaded of each other's worth." Robert Southey once said. It's been a month since we last saw each other so we have decided to meet up for us to bond and to catch up with each other's life. Also, to be honest, we really met to conduct this interview. 

 It was a gloomy Saturday when we meet each other at a cafe since we both like to drink coffee. I arrived earlier than her as usual as she is always late because she is always having a hard time to pick up her clothes, put her make up on and to iron her hair. If there is one person who is a totally opposite of me, I must say that she really is the one. 

 While waiting for her, I am thinking about the topics that we can talk about so that we wouldn't run out of things to talk about or we wouldn't be awkward. Because I have to face the fact that we may not be as comfortable with each other as we seemed before. But all the doubts that I have in my mind eradicated when she arrived because she literally squealed like a dolphin "AHHHHH!!! ARIAAAANNNN!!" and to be honest at that very time, I just t the floor to just open up and to eat me because all of the people inside the cafe is looking at us. But ofcourse, she is my friend so I squealed to "AHHHH!!!MICHHEEEELLLLE!!" and then we hug each other, that we usually don't do but out of emotions, we did and to also hide our faces because of shyness. And then we both said, "YUUUUCKKK!! PLASTIC!!!" because we are really not that type of friend who is expressive.

 As we sat down, we started sharing our experiences with each other that lasted for about 30 minutes. We stopped or paused our catching up moment because we have noticed that the cashier is intently looking at us because we haven't ordered anything yet since we have arrived there. Michelle then said "AYYY TINIGNAN!!!NAHAHAH, akala yata ni ate di tayo magoorder" "libre moko niyan dali may kailangan ka sakin" then I replied "ikaw kasi e ang dami mong pinagsasabi kaya di tayo makaorder" "ays penge pera may utang ka pa sakin" and then she started laughing because she remembered her debts and with that she gave me her money and told me her order. Because one thing that she really is not used to is to order in the counter because the moment that the cashier would asked her what is her order, she will be then panicking will ordered the coffee or any item that she really doesn't like.

 After ordering, I sat down infront of her chair and said that "uy start na tayo,kailangan mo na umuwi niyan magagalit si catha (pertaining to her mother). And then she laughed and cursed me because of what I have just said. "Gameeeee naaa!!" I said. "oo nga dalian mo na para matapos na" she said while punching me softly. "first question, what is or are, ibig sabihin pwedeng isa or marami grr special skills or talent?" "matinong sagot michelle ha" i've said. She then replied with her conceited tone but in a joking way. "I'm good at playing volleyball, good in critical thinking and I am good in memorizing things." "Next question, what is your favorite quote, saying or verse?" I asked. "Philippians 4:13 Ey!!  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!! " she replied then imitating what Stephen Curry does, her idol when he scored in a game. "what other people says or thinks about you? " I asked again. "Hmm, sabi nila Jolly, energetic and genuine person.  Her-emphasizing genuine because she really likes that word. "next question, what do you like or dislike the most?" I asked. "ang dami ha!! Ayoko sa palaka, ayoko sa lalaking paasa atsaka hmmm ayoko sayo!! HAHAHAHA! charot." she said. "Baliw ka dalian mo na!! Anong gusto mo?" I replied. "Siya kaso di niya ako gusto oooooohhhhh!!" then we both laughed because of her remark. "Last question" I said. "Buti naman" she said. "Manahimik ka!! Shhh!! Anong hobbies mo?" I asked. "playing different kind of sports like volleyball, basketball, chess, table tennis etc." she answered. 

 By conducting this interview, I have learned or discovered a lot of things about my friend.  I have realized that there are still a lot of things that I don't know about her even though that we've been friends for a lot of years now. We took this opportunity to conduct this interview but also to bond with each other. We often miss this kind of pieces of information about our friends or to anyone who is around us which is important because by knowing such things or some little things about them means like you get to know them or their personality through that.

“Picture Perfect” by Alixia Lansangan

"The best view comes after the hardest climbs."

 To be honest, I am not a fan of mountain climbings. Walking endlessly for 2 hours to reach the top of the mountain was not easy! Tiredness and hunger were the only thing I ever think of during the climb. But, truly, all the sweat and exhaustedness was worth it because of the picture perfect view of Mt. Balagbag in Bulacan. Our calltime was 4 a.m. in the morning. It felt like yesterday when the cold breeze of the air touched my skin when I started walking during dawn time. After me and my friends got to the meeting place, Dau Terminal, we waited for almost an hour just to wait for other passengers. The sun was shining brightly when we finally reached the registration under the mountain. After hours of waiting and commuting to be in the specific place, we finally started to hike and climb the mountain of Balagbag. 

 During the hike, the humming of the birds and trees dancing and swaying with each other were the only music to my ears. Their sound helped me to erase the irritating murmurs and complains of my friends. They became the reason why I was not getting tired while walking, as if they were all telling me that I was in the right direction, and there will be a present waiting for me at the peak of the mountain. 

 Indeed, it was true. There was a precious present that awaits all of us when we reached the top. The relaxing picture perfect view erased all the negativity that surround the eight of us. After the 2-hour climb, we finally started to eat the delicious chicken joy of jollibee. Aside from the birds, the smell of this irresistible chicken joy was really tempting. I mean, who wouldn't love chicken joy, right? "Finally!" we all shouted, and started to finish it as if it will going to be the last lunch for the rest of our lives. The experience we had became the most memorable thing for me. The bond we made will forever remain in my heart. For me, the picture perfect view of Mt. Balagbag became the witness of the friendship we built that we still have even today. A memory that we will bring even in our future lives.

Memory Lane by: Gracielle Gay D. San Miguel

HEY! 1, 2, 3! ANGELES!

     This particular yell started our next journey as we entered CLRAA 2017. Before the real event, we experienced hardships and difficulties on our trainings. Trainings for us became difficult as well as enjoyable as we learned to become closer towards each other.

FEBRUARY 2017       This month started our training together with new faces in the group. As the champions, we had the privilege to pick players from the opponent’s team to make our team even stronger. As we picked players also came to the point that we pleaded to our coach to include them in our team and we will just share them some of our allowance. But, unfortunately, our plea was not permitted, however, they will still join the training every now and then.      This month also became hard for us. Some players from the other schools were not attending the training because they had to participate in another tournament. Our coach was not really happy about it but we cannot do anything. We also had our fair share of Saturday trainings wherein we trained form 7 am up to 5 in the afternoon.

               During Saturday trainings, we always felt tired because our trainings were whole day. In the morning, we always do loadings specifically ladders, cones, and running around the court. However, in the afternoon, we always played “Indonesian” or “Bubblegum” to start the training. We give piggy-back to our teammates for us to not be “taya”, while in Bubblegum; we stick to each other to form a pair. If there was a pair that became a group of three, the one on the other end will be tagged. All in all, our trainings were pretty enjoyable at the same time productive because we are learning many new things and strategies that we can apply in our upcoming games. MARCH 2017                This is the month that the tournament started in Malolos, Bulacan. Before our departure, we had a little conditioning for our body to be prepared in the tournament. We also had light training which consisted of ball-handlings as well as set plays.                As we had our trip-like ride to Bulacan, we felt nervous at the same time excited. We were also given the chance to represent Angeles City that made us excited and nervous because we might not make it to the finals. We also saw the venue and it was an open field also known as Sports Complex. Furthermore, we saw some bleachers that can protect the audience from the direct sunlight.                We expected that our home for the next five days was in a public school. As we approached the quarters (what the athletes usually call the school), we were surprised that it was not bad compared to what I have stayed when I was still in elementary. As they guided us in our room, we did not expect that the flooring was not made out of tiles. So, every time that we approach our beddings, we needed to dust off our feet and leave our slippers and shoes outside.                Fast forward to the tournament itself. During the days of the tournament, we had our warm-up under the sun. We were struggling so bad and almost dehydrated. Fortunately, we had some water by our sides to drink. The opponent’s team was also having their warm-up beside us and they were also sweating non-stop. As the game began, we heard the crowd cheering for their respective teams as well as their favorite players.                Playing in an open court was hard, but during our first three games, we managed. However, quarter-finals came and we were playing against Bulacan. We won the first set but they, unfortunately, got the second one. This led us to lose the chance to play in the finals because we were not lucky enough to win the match.                If it’s meant to be, it will be. This is the quote that I always cherished ever since I played volleyball. Yes, we worked very hard, did our very best, and gave all that we can in order to win but if it is not for us, it will never be for us.

REPTILES

After a week of going home by myself, I went along with my friends. The sun was already setting as we were in line to ride the jeepney. I was seated beside Charry, my brain twin. Usually, when we are all going home together we tell storues about school but that day was different.

Despite her being my brain twin, I still have questions left for her. We were caught in thw middle of the hustle od the city while we started talking.

"Can you like tell me your skills/talents?" I asked. 

She admitted that she's not really talented. 

"I think I excel in public speaking, declaming or acting. I can also do graphic design ."

We have always liked reading books back when we were in JHS. So upon asking what's her favourite quote, I expected it to be from a novel we've read before but she said,

"Make work what's not working, work. Because you should always strive to make something happen, just because it seems impossible doesn't mean that you should give up." 

Her face suddenly turned serious. I could tell she meant it because for all I know whem she wants to do somthing, she really goes for it. We've known each other for a while now and I know how people aways find her intimidating so I asked her why so.

"Maybe because I always seem sophisticated and confident."

"But you're not really, are you?" I added

"Ok you read my mind again." We both giggled.

We were barely hearing each other when we got to the expressway.

"Aside from your crush, what else do you like?" I humoured.

"I like listening to music the most." She said with excitement.

"And you dislike?"

"REPTILES!!!" She almost screamed her answer but no ine noticed it because everyone was asleep.

"How come I didn't know you hate reptiles!" I said in surprise.

"Well now you do." She said sarcastically. "They're just so disgusting I can't even-" she said.

"Ok then but same." I agreed.

After that conversation, I realized thay even though we know each other so well already, I still always learn something new about her. The simplest things that we ought to know about our friends are sometimes what we tend to always forget or not know. Until I got home, I'm still shocked about her not liking reptiles.

MI AMORE

This is the best photo that I have on my phone. This is not just a photo, it means a lot for me because in this all my promises are written; to love her to treasure her and to take good care of her. What I really love in this photo is the caption in the lower part "thru ups and downs" that's why even though were not okay, I still love her the way I did when I first felt that love. She taught me to be brave that's why I won't give up on her. I love you Mi Amore.

RAZZIEBINX

He had those smile, a kind of galaxy filled with stars and meteors. I'll never get tired of him, he was my peace and happiness. His laugh and voice was a music to my ears and yet it make me felt that I'm the luckiest girl in this planet earth.

I'm hoping that someday, I would found someone as same as him. He was my idea of a man, who could treat a woman the way she deserves it.
