So far, what’s been the hardest and or least favorite part of making the game? I’m super excited to see it all come together :)
I really hate making the UI im not going to lie. I have to save the files as different parts- similar to how paper dolls are made yknow? It's very tedious but worth it. Im someone who enjoys the process more than the result so it's not the best. I enjoy working on dialogue with Kit, particularly writing Kieran and Noble's banter has made me cackle more than I can handle. Of course my favorite part is the world building though which has its downsides too (such as having to rework parts that don't make sense or have no purpose) but it's still fun! Ever since Hammy joined he's actually expanded the story quite a lot, ESPECIALLY for David.
For me, the hardest part is figuring out the mechanics of everyone’s route, and making sure all of the art that we need is available. My least favorite part is to be honest script writing Noble and David.
However, I do have fun scripting Kieran and cracking up Gremie when it comes to their banter. We were also struggling so bad with David and Rasum as a whole until Hammy finally joined the team, it was like taking the best sledgehammer to the ultimate writers block.
Id say trying to fill in the blanks/trying to fill the distance between point A to point B in the story. You have key moments, details, or plot points in mind starting off, but getting from where the arc/story starts off at to those cool moments you imagined is a chore and a half to come up with. I gotta admit its HARD to connect different imagined moments together. But its the most rewarding when you manage to do it, and its cohesive and consistent with the overall story. Its like you already drew out key frames in animation, but you need to think about how the person went from sitting to standing, from standing to jumping, and from being in the air, to landing back down. Adding in those in-betweens that sometimes smudge and stretch to add the illusion of animation, and each frame seems nonsensical by itself, but put it all together and play the animation and its a full scene.
