Winner Announced of The Glass Child Fan Competition!
Soooo here it is creatures! First of all, thank you so so much to you who submitted something to the competition or who voted for one of the three finalists. Me and Petra, who’s handling @TheGlassChildSV have had so much fun with this competition, and to see all those beautiful submissions and stories have been the greatest inspiration for me. Actually some of these stories touched me so deep that they turned into songs. We really hope you all have enjoyed this as much as we have, and once again, this was never about competing or choosing a winner. This was about our family, this community we’ve built, ‘our people’. I don’t know if you’ve ever thought of that, but for me it really feels like I’ve found my group of people in you all. We relate to the same music, have the same passion for stories about turning struggle into strength. We believe in how powerful music and art is, and despite our different setbacks, we believe in tomorrow – for we’ve seen yesterday and we survived. Right? Anyway, doing these competitions is so much fun for me because it feels like I can get to know you all better and talk about things that really matter. Like all of you who shared your story did. So thank you all for kind of giving me a family.
Anyway, now to the important point! THE WINNER! The beautiful story that I think stand for everything we all believe in – that scars (mental or physical) are signs of survival. Someone who knows pain but survived and therefor knows that he or she can take anything, because they’re fighters. The winner of The Glass Child competition, and who will do a skype-interview with me is …. (drumrolls)
Go give her some love and strength, read her story and thank you Alice for being an inspiration to so many people!
And just as inspiring and motivating, #2 in the competition is Mikaela with her drawings and beautiful describtion of how you can find yourself in music no matter what state or mood you’re in, and how music can bring out different personalities.
And as #3, with one of my favorite tattoos and beautiful stories all time – Mattias.
I am one of the least creative people in he world so I really struggled with what to enter into @TheGlassChildSV’s twitter competition. As i’m not very artistic or can’t play any instruments/sing very well (unless in the shower!) I decided I would just write about what The Glass Child means to me.
I am not entering this competition with the view of winning because let’s face it – I would 100% freak out if I got the chance to talk to Charlotte! The reason I am taking part falls down to one fact: Charlotte inspires me and I admire her so much. I want Charlotte to know what her music, and story mean to me.
Now, I love every song Charlotte has sang but one really sticks with me very day.
“Tell the world i’m not afraid, for I’ve seen yesterday and I survived.”
For a large portion of my life, I have struggled with myself for many reasons; bullying, depression, anxiety – just generally not being happy with myself. This song keeps me going, through all of my bad days, my demons and the monsters in my head. I listen to this song and it reminds me to not be afraid. It reminds me to live for one more day and show this fucked up little world that I can do this, no matter how bad days get or how much I feel the need to give up. I can beat this.
Yes, I have many bad days. Days where I feel the world is against me and days that I want to hide in the dark and just cry. These days, I remember Charlotte. I remember what her journey has been like and how much she has fought to be where she is today and, thank God she made it because without Charlotte’s music, I don’t think I could make it through the day.
So, The Glass Child means a hell of a lot to me. Please, keep being you and NEVER give up on your dream.
The song title that is above or below the picture of the girl, shows what the girl is feeling or thinking, but does not want to let out into the open. She does not want the world to know, because why should they? Each picture is of the same girl, but with different insecurities and feelings. I feel a connection with each song, because they all speak from the heart. This is the story of me.
My favourite song (well the song which has inspired me the most) by the glass child (Charlotte Aka pancoffee queen) is tell the world.
The reason for this is that it is a near perfect way to explain myself. This song reminds me of how I won my battle against depression and attempted suicide and managed to get my life back on track and under my control again. And it helps me keep it like that which is such a beautiful feeling. Something that Charlotte’s music has helped me with so much that it is hard for me to get across my gratitude and feelings of thanks across to her. If only she knew how much of a lifeline it is.
There is not alot of things in this world that are as helpful and meaningful to me as this.
