So… would you say Kitty x Magik were heavily coded in the comics? If I’m going to be honest, I haven’t read enough of the comics to tell

I wouldn’t say heavily coded, but there are certainly more writers that lean into it than others (*cough* Chris Claremont *cough cough*)

Claremont-sized elephant ignored, I would say there are several strong implications in the comics over the years, the main one being Katherine can canonically wield Illyana’s soulsword. Something something soulmates something…

Anyways

I like to think their more recent interactions have been much more strongly coded to the romantic, but you’ll have naysayers arguing for them being ‘just being friends’. Which is whatever, but you cannot say they don’t have a deep, soulmates (platonic or otherwise) bond with one another

But, also, with recent developments like Marvel Rivals and them giving Magik a fucking KITTY PRYDE ACCESSORY HELLO? and Katherine being openly bi asf in Exceptional X-Men, I think they’re definitely pushing the bag for these two

I utterly adore Illyana and Katherine as individual characters, so pairing them together is only natural. Add onto it the lore and the canon interactions and all the adorable little moments they’ve shared, and augh I’m obsessed

I remember people talking abt how funny and gay it was that Magik had a Kitty Pryde plush but like holy shit it’s so fucking gay. Like why didn’t anyone tell me about the fucking emoting and heart hands she does these bitches gay.
