Day two of Creatus Annus! I decided to do some writing for today.

I Met Two Men

I met two men in black and white suits

Sitting on a park bench one afternoon.

They were smiling at the sky

Ignoring all the passers by.

I glanced up and saw only blue

So I walked away.

I met two men and asked them why

Why they stared up at the sky.

They said glance up and so I did

But there were only clouds.

They said I’d understand one day.

I met two men alone at dark

Staring straight up at the stars.

I looked up too but didn’t see.

I guess it wasn’t meant for me.

I met two men under morning sun.

They said that all their work was done

And now it was time for them to go

Where or why I did not know.

I cried and begged for them to stay

But they softly smiled and left.

I met two gods on a mountaintop

And asked why everything must stop.

They sighed and said they couldn’t say

But I would understand someday.

As I left I looked up at the sky

It was the most beautiful blue I had ever seen.

And that night I looked to the stars

And thought of those men

And how I missed them

And it all made sense.

And I knew, somewhere out there, two men in black and white suits were staring at the sky.

And I knew they were smiling.
