What would the TADC humans would go if they get a button that would let them and only them free?
This is an interesting one. It says a lot about where they all are mentally.
Also, just because I ended up adding this to almost everyone's- if they have their episode 8 knowledge, they'd try to summon more buttons. For this scenario, we'll assume that fails.
Pomni: at the beginning of the show, she'd use it instantly. Now, she'd want answers. Could Caine always do this? What is stopping him from doing so other than ego? Hopefully, she'd have the self-possession not to risk asking Caine those questions and instead sneak off to try to summon five more buttons. If that doesn't work, she might give it to dark-mode Kinger in hopes that, as a programmer of the circus, he could rescue the rest of them from the outside.
Jax: he doesn't want to leave. If he were in private when he received the button, he'd toss it into the void. If he received it publically, he'd give it to one of the others- likely Zooble or Gangle- under the sarcastic guise of "I just couldn't wait to get rid of you, plus you're clearly a lot closer to breaking than I am."
Ragatha: she would definitely end up crying as she weighs her options. Using it herself is tempting, but unthinkable. She could give it to Kinger- he deserves it most- but the thought of leaving him alone and confused in an abandoned building stops her. She might end up giving it to Jax- both for his good and so he can't destabilize the others- and cry harder when he tosses it into the void.
Kinger: in the light, there's the risk he'd press it thoughtlessly just because he likes pressing buttons. In the dark, he'd gather everyone to discuss the situation while he's lucid. He'd explain everything- especially whether he'd be able to help them once outside, whether the extent of what he can do includes getting the rest of them out or simply shutting down the circus or making it more livable. He'd take into consideration what the others want before making a decision.
Gangle: It feels cosmically unfair that she would be the one to get this when the others deserve it so much more. She'd offer it to Zooble so they can follow their dreams, but Zooble would refuse to leave her alone. They'd talk together about what to do with it. Joke about giving it to Jax so they wouldn't have to deal with him anymore. Talk about which of the others seem to have the most to go back to in their real lives and realize that, yeah, they all had it fairly rough. It would make Gangle feel less alone. In the end, she'd probably tuck it away somewhere, paralyzed by indecision. She might later use it in a moment of weakness, or give it to someone who seems close to abstraction.
Zooble: Oh, it would be tempting. They liked their life, genuinely. If they end up using it, it would probably be during a period where everything seems fine- Jax isn't on abstraction's door, Gangle is relatively happy and has other friends, Pomni's used to things, and Caine is, well, as stable as Caine gets. They're not gonna leave during a crisis. If they did use it, it would not be right away or without guilt. They'd probably offer it to Gangle first, who would refuse it because Zooble has more to go back to than she does. They might offer it to someone else who seems to be in crisis.
