#CreoleHeritageMonth My great-grandmother Semonia Cezar a “Free Woman of Color” (Her father Semon Cezar migrated to Louisiana from Haiti & opened the first school in our Parish Soileau,LA for free people of color in order to educate his children.) She married my great-grandfather, Fatenigo Guillory (pictured) and in her arms is their daughter, my grandmother Lillian Guillory Fontenot aka Taunt Biece, aka Granny. Granny and her husband Mack Fontenot later opened their own community store and they taught us that nothing was free. I re having to pay for cookies but it came with a sweet little discount. 💞 ⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️ The language: They all spoke Kreyole / Creole, a French-based creole language spoken by 10–12 million people worldwide, and the only language of most Haitians and older Louisianan’s.
