Sailor Venus in the R Movie: Crescent Beam

While Jupiter is chaos, Venus is all control and precision. Her attack is the most minimalistic out of all the Senshi, with only one finger, one narrow beam and a turn of body to make a circle sweep and blow up one Xenian flower at a time. Nowhere near as eye-catching or flashy as other Senshi’s attacks, but effective just the same.

Sailor Venus’ Crescent Beam, R Movie version

I have to confess that Venus’ attack is my least favourite among the four mid-film attacks. As you see, this move is extremely precise, which unfortunately does not align with my taste for flashy attacks. That said, her pinpoint attack, along with Sailor Moon’s, brings a nice counterweight to her teammates who all aim for large areas, especially Mars and Jupiter.

Fanart February 5: Crescent Beam! I was focusing on the strengths of these ladies and for all that she’s fun and frivolous I love that Venus can turn on a dime and be serious and in control. I regret not using one of her more dynamic looking attacks for posing purposes (foreshortening is a braaaat), but I do like how her face, the energy of the piece, and the color turned out :3

Fanart February 6: Dead Scream! I love that Sailor Pluto’s attack seems genuinely regretful - like she’s reluctant to attack but she’s seen the alternative and has no choice. I like the drama of the dark clouds and the weight in Pluto's expression.
