Bookworm Confidential: "Fear Has a Name"
"Fear Has a Name" by Creston Mapes:
The story follows the Crittendon family after their house is broken into. Jack Crittendon thinks it is an isolated incident; some drunk or drugged man who wanted money. But then Pamela Crittendon begins to notice that not only her jewels are missing but also her Bible. The biggest clue that this crime is more personal than they think is when they notice that their wedding picture is slashed.
Things get worse when they find out that the man is following them; and more precisely stalking Pamela. Pamela then realizes that she might know who this man is and why he is after her.
Jack is not only worried about his family but also with an incident he is working on at his job with the newspaper. A pastor has been reported missing and it is believed that he might commit suicide. Jack talks to the pastor's wife and she claims that he would never do such a thing. Jack also talks to the pastor's acquaintances and some claim that he might have gone missing because he discovered something wrong going on with some church members.
Amidst all the trouble that they are facing, Jack and Pamela realize what they must do when they face fear; let God be in control.
The story is seen through the perspectives of four main characters.
The book goes at a fast pace and there is suspense throughout the whole story.
There are a total of about thirty (30) characters; most have major roles in the story.
The book reads more like a fictional story (which it is) but with realistic characters and situations. There are elements in the story that are very real to people; ex. faith, fear, etc. I think the author does a good job at mixing suspense and mystery with real topics that people face.
I give this book a rating of: 5 out of 5
