I’ve always thought of Solas as very sensory. He observes, he listens, the way he speaks - eyes and ears that seem to memorize every detail.

He saves touch for the rare few he truly cares for. He savours. He drinks in (Is it my imagination, dear, or have certain... lingering looks passed between you and our Solas?). His kisses are passionate and deep, each one wholly present. To me, that’s what makes him so sensual and his written romance with Lavellan has always burned hot in my opinion (his love burned against me like a bonfire). Imagine being Lavellan, on the receiving end of that kind of love?

Crestwood, for me, is one of their most intimate and vulnerable moments - especially when he removes her vallaslin.

At first he’s still, gaze fixed and intent. There’s no rush in him, only that deliberate watching, like he’s drinking her in, memorizing her. Then comes that faint shake of his head, as though he can’t reconcile what he sees, as though both disbelief and wonder of being in love are pulling at him. It’s the smallest surrender - unguarded. In that moment there’s no performance, only Solas and Lavellan.

His stare almost seems aching and reverent.

I always felt this scene was him being overwhelmed by her, by his love for her.

It feels less like he’s watching and more like he’s feeling through sight alone. He blinks twice at the end, as if steadying himself, caught between being so utterly swept up in the present moment and reality.

And we haven't even gotten to their kiss...

Weeee, it's done! Ever since I learned that the Solas romance has a cut sex scene that according to rumours had its assets reused in this Mass Effect scene, I went a little unhinged. You can just picture this entire scene with Solas at the Crestwood waterfall instead. It feels so him.

I've not done any art in years and I wish I was at least somewhat good at shading to do it justice, but like. I had to get it out of my system lol.

(That no one who owns both games seems to have ported Solas into Mass Effect yet is a tragedy, and should anyone ever want to volunteer and record it, my life would be yours forever.)
