It was already late in the evening as she sat on the stone floor of a Japanese temple, intently studying the scrolls she had spread out in front of her.

Only a few days ago, she had traveled here with her parents. Although both were originally from the country, they sometimes forgot things, so Ayako helped them internalize the culture, like praying at a shrine.

Admittedly not usually very concerned with gods and prayers herself, she searched again for a particular name of a god her mother had been interested in. At least she remembered that it began with an 'A'.

"Artemis… no, that was Greek…" she mumbled to herself and looked at the other side of the scroll. It was very old, part of the temple, so it was also a real challenge to decipher the characters.

"No, not that… here neither…" She looked at another one.

"Artimus…? Artimus!" Thinking she had figured out the right name, she called it louder than she had originally intended. Instantly, a strong wind blew around her ears, blowing out the candle next to her.

Most of the time his phone vibrated, it was about business he was involved in. Only when a longer but temporary relationship was in the offing, be it drug dealing or other circumstances, did he give anyone his number, but this time when he looked at the display, he was overcome first by a strange new feeling... then anger.

Matthew quickly reached for his cell phone and typed.

[TXT]: The fuck u talking about…?

Then he remembered that the last time they had parted ways was in some sort of argument. He believed that Kay was the only one to blame, because he had acted like a petulant bitch.

[TXT]: What do you want? [TXT]: Weed? [TXT]: Sex? [TXT]: Or both…? ;)

As always, he just couldn't help himself.

The path he took to the temple felt long and seemingly endless. Conláed was glad that his father had already sent a few of his men ahead, but he had to deliver the official greeting. He all alone.

It was not the fact that he had to deal with one of the many gods that surrounded them, it was much more about what kind of god it was. A wildly unpredictable vampire, bloodthirsty, slashing his way through battles, obliterating all who stood in his way. At least that's what they said. Or at least that's what statues and paintings of the god Kleitos told them. He was said to be the god of many wars and battles, but also of protection. Actually good things that could benefit them in fighting their enemies, but the prince had his own doubts.

For he did not like vampires at all. He had a bad past with one of this kind and actually would much rather do something else, but at the behest of his father, the king, he had to fulfill his duty.

As the temple came into view, not far from the city, Conláed thought he recognized someone. Very close to the statue, which had been erected all alone for the god. His father's men seemed to be talking to him, asking him for help. But this would probably only become meaningful when the prince showed himself.

"Kleitos, Kleitos! The king's son, as promised." The men moved aside as Conláed approached and finally stopped. "God… Kleitos?"

Well, that was weird to see Artimus being like this. Man must really like to ice skate -- that or he had more coffee than usual. Carefully as possible Romano made his way out onto the ice already feeling a little wobbly.

  Well, Ivan wasn’t exactly looking for any perchance meetings from interesting foreigners on this day in particular. So it was anyone’s guess as he popped out of a shop holding a to-go cup of tea why one such individual happened to catch the man’s eye; from his peripheral at first. Discreetly the purple eyed man cast his glance in that direction to see a tall man standing there not too far away looking a little lost.

More than a little lost.

Oh dear, well Moscow was a daunting city to find yourself plopped into if one were unprepared. So much to see, so much to do, not enough time in the week or however long you were trying to stay in order to take everything around you in, processing such a foreign language as well compared to Western Europe -- or North America. Yes, indeed this man seemed to be that level of befuddled. Giving a sigh with a smile the nation turned and started over deciding to default to English as that was probably the language which this man most likely spoke.   “Excuse me, hello. Do you need help with directions?”

  “Effervescent as the conversation is, yes.” He did use that word correctly, right? Making a play off of her sparkling conversation line and that was the first word to pop into his head. “That and I need to keep up a good working relation with the person who makes sure I stay stylish.”

The Race to Freedom | Persephone & Kyle

She could do this.

She couldn't do this.

And she had done it. She had escaped from her mother's ever watchful eye with a hammering heart and a suspicious amount of luck on her side, not that she was going to question it. She had grasped her freedom with both hands and ran with it. Literally.

In her own eyes, she was inconspicuous. To the mortals surrounding her amidst the commotion of the city- not so much. Beneath her feet had sprung tiny wild flowers (She really needed to work on that, damn it.) No matter. She had to push forward and forward she went until she was pulled back by a rather sturdy looking man, suited and booted for a day of rabble control.

"Excuse me- Oh."

The flurry of horse drawn Chariots had silenced her. Her rosebud of a mouth had fallen open in wonder, pale eyes wide. She had heard of this of course. The mortals certainly knew some spectacular things. The guard had stopped her from being swept away by a rather regal looking mare, hammering past.

She hadn't realised, however that crowd had trained their eyes on her and flowers springing up at her feet. They were silent. Staring with a mixture of terror and awe. It seemed Goddesses enjoying a chariot race amongst the mortals was not a regular occurrence..

Kyle darted forward, his arms wrapping around Nico and swinging him up into a bear hug. "Long time no see, kiddo," he beamed happily. Didn't seem like he was keen on releasing Nico anytime soon.

As soon as he found himself ensnared in Kyle’s arms, Nico did what he does best - groan and grouch about the sudden physical contact. Yet, it wasn’t his standard level grumpiness. With Kyle, it’s lighter, more of an act than Nico being Nico.

“Always good to have my ribs crushed,” Nico groaned; yet his voice loses its bite with the uncharacteristically wide grin stretched along his face. 

“Missed you too, Kyle. Sorry for the disappearance...again. Didn’t mean to be gone for so long,” a flash of guilt comes and goes in his eyes. “Crazy stuff - as per usual.”
