The Proving Grounds for Cricket Players To-Be
Besides The Ashes and the upcoming tours of different teams, there are also ODIs taking place that involve teens from countries that participate in other official cricket tournaments. This is for the official teams’ way of training, and possibly selecting (a) player/s to include in their team for future tournaments. One of these tournaments is the New Zealand Under 19 (U19) Tour of Australia which was played in Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. This cricket tour has already ended with Australia dominating the tournament and was played from July 6 to 12.
According to cricket news, the first and second match between the two teams was discontinued and canceled due to rain. The third match saw Australia win by a slim margin - nine runs. New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl first. After their innings, Australia scored 179 runs-all out. The New Zealand U19 team was only able to score 170 runs-all out after a terrific bowling attack from Australia’s bowler.
The fourth and fifth match saw Australia dominate these matches, winning by seven wickets in each game. Just like their professional counterparts, the U19 team displayed the natural Aussie cricket mentality - aggressive bowling, aggressive pace, and aggressive batting, all of which helped in securing the win. If this indicates anything, it’s that the U19 team of Australia is just as dominant, hungry, and efficient as the professional team. And if selectors are to select future players for the National Cricket Team from the U19 Team, then the future of Australian cricket is in capable hands.
It’s no surprise that Australia has been dominating in nearly all forms of cricket - ever since the birth of cricket, they have been one of the staples of showing dominance on the cricket field.
