SSBU!Ridley is a clone, specifically engineered for Smash. Initially Samus was very upset by him joining, but she’s accepted that it was inevitable and it brings her a little peace of mind to remember that he’s kind of just a sparring opponent made to look and act like the real thing. Also, while he’s still pretty evil, SSBU! Ridley (whose been nicknamed Ridge by a few of the fighters) has a few redeeming qualities. Mainly, during WOL Samus saw he genuinely wanted to defeat Galeem and get things back to normal. She saw he could be loyal and determined. He’s also developed a sort of friendship with Pichu. She thinks maybe, just maybe, someday he could redeem himself and change for the better.
Very neat interpretation of SSBU Ridley, I like it.
