A Decade with YOU
We are not the type of couple who would constantly post photos on Facebook or Instagram. We seldom like or leave a comment whenever each of us changes our DP’s or cover photos and we even rarely post each other on our “My Day” like any other couple would do. But it doesn’t mean we’re unhappy or we are no longer in love. We just want to keep things private. Be it our sweet moments together or not. We also do a lot of things together but chose to treasure it in our hearts than let other people know about it. We also had arguments, we get into a fight, which I think is normal. But we deal with it together personally and privately. Today though is an exception because we are celebrating something big. (at least for me) Babe, I know how much you hated posting in SocMed. You would definitely say that it’s too “showbiz” to think that we’re not even celebrities. I just want to grab this opportunity to thank you for all the love you had given me. Never did once you fail to say how much you love me, or to tell me how beautiful I am, even during my bad hair days, also for putting up with my mood swings and crankiness. I know I’m a handful but you still handled me well. Thank you because I never had to feel insecure about anything or anyone. You showered me with so much care and support. So today, I want you and the whole damn world to know that I love you (always will). And that I’m still planning to spend the rest of my life with you, making new memories together. Happy TENTH year anniversary to us my partner in crime and my better half.

But here’s the thing - You can’t keep choosing someone who doesn’t choose you. You can’t. Because your person is going to be you person for the rest of your life, Not just when you’re young and perfect, but when things get ,messy and you make mistakes and the world is less shiny. You have to make sure that you have someone by your side that wants to be there. Someone who wants to support you, and encourage you. Someone who gives you just as much effort as you give them. Someone who wants to hear your laugh and make breakfast with you, and listen to all of your dumb jokes for twenty, or thirty, or fifty years. Because there are difficult things in life, really hard and haunted things that make it heavy and hurtful at times. But love should not be one of those things. Love should hold your hand and help you brave those storms. Love should be your safe place. So please, just don’t give the best parts of yourself to someone who doesn’t value in what they are receiving. Don’t settle for anyone who doesn’t look at you and know, without hesitation, that they want to stay. -rainbowsalt-

It’s just if you’re with the right person, if you’re with someone who changes your life, and who enlivens you — you’re not going to be happy every single day. You’re going to be sad, anxious even, that there could ever be a time where you didn’t feel that way. Love is this incredible thing, this intangible feeling that swells within you, it gifts you these crystallizing moments of appreciation and gratitude, these overwhelming oceans that build within your chest, constantly reminding you that you have something to lose. That’s why love keeps you up at midnight, that’s why love lives as a lump in your throat sometimes.
See, I think you should always love someone like you are going to lose them. I think you shouldn’t ever get comfortable. You should not assume that they know you care just because you tell them. You need to show them. You shouldn’t ever stop showing someone that you choose them, that your heart has picked them above all else; that you’re willing to fight, to push, to fall in love with them every single day.
