En Garde!
Tomorrow was Asipha first day of work at the the institute, but tonight she was allowed to set up her first self-defense classes. Of course, she wasn’t getting paid for it, but Asipha wasn’t going to let that get her down, she was excited. She had the gymnasium at the highschool cleared for an hour, the bleachers were pushed back and mats were laid out. She had posted online that she would be having a self defense class tonight and she would be allowing any and all people. Self defense was about defending yourself, obviously, and all people would need some form of training for those unavoidable confrontations in life. She was busy setting up a clear defined ‘confrontation mat’, a place where people will be set up against each other in mock battles.
She had punching bags and the like set up, and even some plastic dummies. The dummies would simulate the weight of the average human body, and the bags were hard and soft in some places, to simulate the most vulnerable parts of the human body as well. Asipha realized that it was probably over the top for something so simple as a self defense class, but she made the case that if it comes down to those fight-or-flight situations, you want options. The rest just fell into place.
While mindfang waited for someone to show, she began to warm up on the punching bag, throwing mild, warm-up strikes. Jab, kick, pivot, kick. The routine was one she knew well, and soothed her sometimes stormy mind.
