A film that left me with a blank state of mind. It's full of contradictory, and it's right up my alley. The film itself is presented in a fast-paced way, without beating around the bush; as fast as the discoloration in a fresh corpse – considering said corpse were a living human mere hours ago.
Making a form of art that revolves around the concept of 'eternal life' will never not be tricky. Something that feels like too far fetched to be realised, yet it feels like not entirely impossible. Or I just turn insane from the film. Of course, this theme won't go anywhere without its friend, attached to the hip, "eternity will cost you something great" in this case, the skin, it may rearrange your guts, or affect your brain, and it will definitely take your normal life. Jesus, for his love towards antiques and curiosity – almost got killed. Correction: He is dead. It's an irony for someone named after Jesus to be resurrected not of good deeds, not with a decent body but with everything robbed from him. The one thing that flabbergasted me from Jesus character is the thought of him wanted to live beyond the average human lifespan, which turned out to be a mere curiosity and amazement due to the slight youthfullness he gained over the minute. You meant to tell me there are some people out there stupid enough to be led by reckless curiosity? It's not like he didn't know there is something dreadful with the antique device. Another irony for Angel to be violent, not like I can guarantee a real angel (if they truly exist), will always act like the epitome of benevolence we have always been taught. The third irony goes to the Guard who acted like the biggest coward. I guess you can already tell how contradictory the film is, as I have stated first thing first.
Curiosity truly kills anyone, and everything in this life will cost something. One of the biggest gifts a human can have is to always have a clear mind to make wise decisions in any situation.
P.s. Please proceed with caution if you are uncomfortable with borderline gore scenes. This film has some detailed parts in it. And do not ever entertain the concept of immortality.
