I went on an adventure today and came back with a Cross Century II fountain pen. It writes so smoooooooth... definitely an auspicious start to a dangerous pasttime.
It's a medium nib, and I decided to use the blue ink (Monteverde Malibu Blue) first. It flows relatively evenly, but the ink isn't fully saturated, so my writing is a little see through, but that's sort of what I'd expect from a bargain ink. The pen is a little lighter than I was hoping for, but still heavier than the Zebra I've been using.
The scratchiness of the Zebra disappeared the moment I tried a new pen. Even the shop's cheapest fine point (around 30 USD) was loads better than the Zebra, so I guess it was a was a characteristic of a Zebra, and not the nib size. So... don't use a Zebra if you're going for a fountain pen, lol.
The funny part of the whole thing is that my favorite ballpoint pen is a Cross as well. It was a gift from a friend years ago and I still use the fucking thing. Overall I think this new fountain pen is going to prove to be a worthy investment.
Even if I want to immediately go back and get an even pricier pen, lol.

Why Cross Pens Are the Ultimate Writing Instrument for Professionals
In a world where technology often overshadows traditional tools, the simple act of writing with a pen holds a special place, especially for professionals who value precision, presentation, and personal expression. Among the myriad of options available, Cross pens have consistently stood out as the premier choice for individuals who demand the best from their writing instruments. Known for their unparalleled craftsmanship, innovative features, and elegant designs, cross pen are the ultimate tool for professionals seeking reliability and sophistication in their daily lives.
One of the key reasons professionals choose Cross pens is their reliability. Whether signing contracts, jotting down important notes, or drafting letters, a Cross pen offers an unmatched smoothness and consistency. Unlike many disposable or lower-end pens, Cross pens are designed for durability and longevity, ensuring they perform flawlessly over time. Their precision-engineered tips, combined with high-quality ink, provide a writing experience that feels fluid and effortless, making them a preferred choice for individuals who spend long hours writing or signing documents.
Moreover, Cross pens exude a sense of professionalism and style. In many corporate settings, the type of pen one uses can make a subtle yet impactful statement. The sleek and refined design of a Cross pen instantly communicates attention to detail and a commitment to quality. For example, the Cross Classic Century series, with its slim and minimalist aesthetic, is a favorite among executives and professionals who value understated elegance. On the other hand, the Cross Townsend series, with its more substantial design and luxury finishes, appeals to those looking for a pen that makes a bolder statement.
Customization is another major advantage of owning a Cross pen. Professionals often choose to engrave their pens with their names, initials, or company logos, transforming a functional item into a personal or corporate symbol. This customization not only enhances the pen’s aesthetic appeal but also adds sentimental or brand value, making it a thoughtful gift for clients, colleagues, or employees.
In an era dominated by emails and digital signatures, the tactile nature of writing with a Cross pen brings a personal touch to communication. It reflects an appreciation for tradition and craftsmanship, qualities that resonate deeply with professionals. Whether used daily or kept for special occasions, a Cross pen is more than just a writing tool; it’s a symbol of professionalism, success, and individuality.
