Art @hambalbeesart drew for me of my OC, Crosscut, and his partner, Bonecrusher.
They're discussing their dreams and goals once they get out of the mines they both work in. Crosscut wants to see the stars for the first time, while Bonecrusher isn't sure what he wants - but as long as he is with Crosscut, that is all he could want.
I mean, I cry everytime I think of his story, but I was wondering:
If he ever got the chance to meet the other Constructicons.
What would he think of them?
With who would he (not) get along?
What would he think of them being Combiners/ what would be his opinion on Devastator?
Oh, aaaand what would the other Structis think of him and his relationship with Bonecrusher?
Thanks!!
Oh, gosh, a Crosscut ask?? Gosh..
So I had never thought of him beyond his origin/up to his death before @kriminalistic started asking me about him, so I actually have answers for this!
So in an alternate timeline where he survived... it would actually be because of the Constructicons. It would be Hook, Scrapper and Mixmaster finding Bonecrusher and Crosscut while they were still buried in the mine collapse. It would be the three of them unburying Bonecrusher (after being drawn to him by their gestalt bond they were all unaware of) and Crosscut before Crosscut died.
Hook saved Crosscut's life, and it is him saving Crosscut that makes Bonecrusher stay with the team. Makes him swear a life debt pact to Hook, and the Constructicons (then Bonecrusher comes to care for his team without that whole "I'm indebted to you" mindset and it throws the dozer for a loop).
More below because it got long, sorry. I'm not the best at explaining thoughts without long paragraphs to try and get my thoughts across.
Hook, being the fussy medic he is, cares deeply for Crosscut after working for days to save his life and repair him. Crosscut, in return, likes Hook and has an attitude (quiet but strong) that does not clash with Hook's and smooths against Hook's ego in a way that doesn't make them clash.
With Scrapper, being the leader, Crosscut would be very respectful, if not a bit shy, about talking to him. He definitely wants to be allowed to be part of the team, as he does not want to leave Bonecrusher's side, but he knows that is solely up to Scrapper. Thankfully, Scrapper's a smart leader and of course accepts Crosscut staying. He values the partnership between the little minicon and Bonecrusher and also can't help but see that Hook's fussiness over Crosscut's health is that of him caring deeply for the minicon's safety.
Scavenger loves that there is someone who he can blab to about his collection and that Crosscut actually listens to him and encourages Scavenger to talk about his interests.
Long Haul likes that he can complain at Crosscut and Crosscut won't interrupt him, but Crosscut does find the complaining exhausting after awhile.
Mixmaster is likely a very nebulous person for Crosscut. He would try to befriend Mixmaster but Mixmaster kind of... ignores him. Not out of rudeness, Mixy is just very introverted and it will take time for him to warm to Crosscut.
Devastator, on the other hand? He likes his very tiny friend. He will carry Crosscut on his shoulder like a little bird.
I feel that Long Haul is the one Crosscut would struggle the most with, and then Mixmaster but only because he does not understand Mixy and Mixmaster is so mysterious to him. Crosscut is one of those kind of guys who tries to be friendly to everyone and especially won't fight someone (he's a pacifist) but also knows when someone wants space from him.
I think he might also be intimidated by Scrapper, in a way? He respects Scrapper so much, just like how he does Hook, and that respect (due to how he grew up and was raised by the mining company) means he will demure to them and make sure to not be in their way or hassle them.
Now on them being combiners...
He was VERY intimidated the first time. After all, Devs is HUGE. He's never seen a combiner, but had read a little about these beings from ancient texts, but to see one?
To know his partner is part of this amazing Cybertronian?
It's a lot to comprehend and grow accustomed to.
But, like I mentioned above, Devs would love Crosscut and that helps Crosscut feel less intimidated and very comfortable with Devastator and the entire team.
And on his relationship with Crusher...
Scrapper thinks it adorable and sweet. He's very supportive and will let these two run off and have their time together, even if it means covering for Bonecrusher on his Decepticon duties (and getting in trouble when Devs comes to battle missing an arm since Crusher is off on a date with Crosscut).
Mixmaster finds it cute. Bonecrusher's so cute the way he blushes and stammers whenever Crosscut flirts with him.
Long Haul is just like "at least he keeps Crusher busy" but then also that means Long Haul has to cover for Crusher? And do more work? Blegh.
Scavenger finds it so adorable. He tries to wingman (and fails because he gets too excited) and is the biggest supporter of Crosscrusher. I am sure he snuck after them on one of their dates and would go "You two are so CUTE!" (which gets Crusher to threaten him, while Crosscut blushes and giggles, which makes Crusher calm down in turn). Scav's... awkward.
And then Hook? I am sure he doesn't understand what Crosscut saw in Bonecrusher at first, but Hook also. Doesn't get romance. But he sees that Crosscut is happy, and Hook does like that little minicon. Hook has a soft spot on Crosscut for sure, and if that idiot bulldozer makes Crosscut giggle, smile and laugh, then ugh Hook will support it.
(He may seem grumpy about it, but he does support Crosscrusher too).
