Termagax's relationship with House, the mobile tower she built herself and has used as her abode since her exile from Cybertron's society, means so much to me. We hardly get enough of them, but what we do, and how their relationship ends, hurts.
She speaks to House so formally, but there is, for Termagax, comfort in that. She has always been intellectually driven and wanting for someone on her plane of intelligence, of course she would have House speak in such a manner with her.
And House is not simply a building in function. It is heavily armed and ready to defend itself and Termagax from any form of threat, and capable of building clones of Termagax for her use (an ability she uses later in the series to help defend the Autobots from Sixshot's forces in battle).
Also, apparently, House can redecorate itself at will too!
Not "I redecorated" but "House redecorated". It is very clear House is not simply an AI that does whatever Termagax programmed it for, even if she does grumble about needing to adjust its dialogue functions when it is not clear with her.
This makes it clear that she talks to House often, and has discussions with House, and, I believe, has allowed House to have its own opinions and thoughts, even if she expects formality from it. It is a fascinating thought to go down, how much freedom does House have, how much she permits House to be, in its own way, its own being. I think Termagax, who wants to fight for self-determination, does allow House its own self and freedoms... She talks to it with respect.
Then we see how she reacts to how others address House and oh...
The immediate and emphasized correction about who House is, that House is not merely a building with legs, but House. That says so much about what she expects other to view House as and what she sees House as herself.
When House is damaged in the battle against Sixshot's forces, she's clearly anything but pleased...
And is immediately repairing House once the battle is over.
Not because House is her abode, but because she needs House.
Then at the end of IDW2019, there are swarms of Insecticon drones that eat anything and anyone, and they keep attacking the Autobots who have no defenses left...
So Termagax has House sacrifice itself. The Insecticon drones want to eat metal, to consume and consume, and what better target than the giant metal House she built...
She has wanted no part to play in the war that came to her home, to House, but now she's giving everything that ever mattered to her up to this cause...
She's losing the only being that ever mattered to her and ugh it hurts.
The "thank you" to House because it has been so loyal and so good to her.... and she cares so much for House. She does.
And yet no one truly understands.
"I liked it" coming from Termagax, who does not express her emotions or display them in anyway, goes very far beyond a simple "liking" of House. House was her home, her friend, the only being who she could understand and who could understand her. And she lost House for the Autobots. For a cause she does not agree with, for people she does not understand, and who is there who can understand the sorrow and pain she is going through after losing House - who she has lived with for an untold amount of time...
I have many feelings for Termagax over all, and how her story intertwines with IDW2019, but also the relationships with others she has in the comics, be they the Constructicons or House, imply so much about her.
