memory meme / accepting / @crossedcat☤ - a memory of death/loss
it wasn’t his life, not anymore -and yet it’d visit his dreams as twofold memento, as a way to remind him of what fate’s averted towards him, to remind always of what was true no matter how much the flow of spacetime would twist and bend in order to conceal and have him go parallel, but never incidental to what rested within the other side of its veil.
yet he could see it all, in the offset transparency. he could see a man fighting like only warmongering gods could. a man whose hand on him was rough, cruel, controlled by strings pulled violently by green-clawed hands and thus undecipherable, a man he had seen with eyes shining with the colors of the rainbow enough times to understand that something was going terribly wrong in him and it wasn’t fruit of a teenager’s sharp fantasy groomed by the gross laughter of a puppet.
he saw the man strife against control one last time, one last time embracing a sword like he often imagine him embrace the reality of a broken chism ; he saw him look nigh invincible, and yet he knew he wasn’t, lil dave, he knew the sight of a blade through that chest and red on that shirt was as real as the mere thought of mortality. he knew consciousness had reappeared in a flash as before his own eyes there was no more flashing rain of colors but one, one suffering shade of orange, one silent apology.
and even after all that time, after all the changes and the realizations… he would still shed a tear for a brother he perhaps never really knew, for the man himself never was in control until that last, final time. every night, every dream of it leaving him shaken to the core, and every small chrysanthemum laid to rest on a grave with no name.
